Mike I have to thank you, I used to be in love with cars but over time I fell out of love due to having to get a “real job”. I saw your video on the Honda and what you said about doing what you love, I quit my job the day after I saw that video and now I’ve been taken on as a mechanical technician apprentice, thanks for making me realise I can do what I love !

Dude that’s awesome! I’ve been wanting to do the same thing. I work in the trade but I have a love on working on cars. Makes me want to consider being a mechanical technician. Not only is that a great way to make money but also makes things way cheaper when you want to carry on a huge projects. Hope your route goes good man!

@@Owensti yeah I was working in retail, hated every minute but I needed the money. As soon as I turned 18 adult life kicked in and I had to give up on everything, I had to leave college, get a full time job. I was miserable for years, but on Wednesday they rang me for an interview, and Friday I got the offer! I fully recommend just going for it, I never thought I’d be this happy and and now I am, good luck on wherever life takes you buddy :)

@5:50, i was in same boat, i bought my first rear left quarter panel. was so stoked, got it home, started stripping it down and saw some body filler popping through rear quarter in the trunk pocket area. so panel was rusted and filled with filler then sanded smooth, no patch metal, just glob of body filler spewing through rusted hole and called a day haha. needless to say, i had to source another quarter panel.

Hey, Im not a restorer or anything, but exists something called strip disk, its a rubberlike disk that you can use to remove paint/bondo from the surface, its waay faster than sanding normally or using a wire wheel. That thing was a life saver when I was restoring my car.
@tortron
@tortron Жыл бұрын
Yup I have stripped paint off several cars, the job always sucks, but the best way is the strip discs (getting someone else to do it is the cleanest option lol, but can't trust anyone to not ruin the job)
@haydencook3245
@haydencook3245 Жыл бұрын
As a collision repair tech, these strip discs are useful. Personally I start cutting the seamsealer with an air hammer with chisel bit then finish it off with a strip disc. Then I grind the wild with a belt grinder and put the new panel on.

Not sure you'll ever read this. But the best advice I can give on anything regarding buying old car parts. Is to check, double check, and triple check. Do a little research on it and don't be afraid to inspect the piece thoroughly before picking it up. If the offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. And if someone gets a little weirded out by you asking questions about it. It usually means they're not telling the whole story.

rough deal on the quarter. Just use the replacement. If anyone is going to recreate it, they will make a mould and recreate it out of carbon. Bet you could do it 🤟with the way the industry is going, just happy to see some of these old car being worked on and the work you have done deserves the fresh quarter.

On the hoodie strings... just pull them out as far as you can and then snip them off... they'll recess back inside and you'll never see 'em again. On the black plastic piece you found... that's actually a latch for these little access panels that were on the interior trim in the hatch. The jack kit was behind one of the panels if I remember correctly.

If the lower part of the quarter is rust free then you could just get a rusted out one like you already had and use this one to repair it. Worse come to worse, 2F performance does make fiberglass replacement rear quarters (not over fenders) for the S13 but they are expensive and the wheel arch has a 55MM flare so you would need to do both sides for it to look right.
