I remember fishing with Fred in Cooper Landing in the 90s. He guided for Alaska Wildlands. Glad to see him still beating the water.

Really enjoyed your video on fishing the upper Kenai River. You did a wonderful job on it. I live in Florida now but used to live in Alaska and fished the upper Kenai every chance I could get. Still come there almost every August and September. I was familiar with all the places you and Fred walked in to. The upper Kanai is a jewel of a river. The trout, char and silvers on the Kenai fight harder than any other fish I've ever caught elsewhere. So much fun. Glad you got to experience the upper Kenai and I hope you can get back again to do another great video.

Nice! You just fished the Kenai with the BEST two guides on the river. Actually "guides" is an understatement, more like stewards and protectors of that river. I don't know how you found Fred and Stacy, but good on you man. Glad you enjoyed Alaska. I have the Alaska bug and do a couple trips a year if I'm lucky. Cheers!

Fred is actually a major part of the Fly Project Crew. Stacy and Fred both are a book of knowledge, especially when it comes to the Kenai! Thanks for watching.

Very good video 😊! Glad you made your goal and got to experience such a great 👍 place!! I was wondering if this was near the end of the RUNS? Fish were looking a little old!! I think a better Fly selection would've helped 😜!!

Making memories. Unforgettable place, isn't it? It can change how you think and see things in life. I started out just visiting a friend for a few months a year. ...that was was over 20 years ago now and still loving it. hahaha. It's a place that a person can explore their entire life and still not feel done.... I'm only 1/3 into the video where you took out the spey. I really wanted to see you latch into something. What length/wt did you use? I just bought my first spey (13.5' , 8wt) but i haven't used it in moving water yet. I'm thinking I should have gone up a weight or 2 to keep up in faster waters.

Hah. I just got to the part where a fish on the spey was the goal...excellent.

On this trip we took a Project One 11'6" 5wt and a 12' 6wt. The 6wt was definitely the optimal rod for these Salmon. Thanks for watching!

Nymphing was effective the first day. When we found fish podded up on a particular spot we stripped a streamer through it on a single hand and caught quite a few silvers that way. Swinging pretty consistent with a little patience. Good luck on your trip!
