YAY! I've been waiting for the Kate ride review because I own one of these beasties. 👍 Agreed about the throttle, it is quite a strong spring so you need some hand strength to keep the throttle open. Disagree on the clutch lever. Mine is a stock clutch lever and friction point is excellent, and nicely adjustable around the middle position. Your clutch or clutch lever is setup wrong. I've been riding for many years and this bike is the WORST EVER for pushing around, especially on wet grass lol. But, it is one of the nicest bikes for handling and cornering, really sweet, and sharp too. I wanted to say that they have decoded the ECU flash now, and the throttle maps show the ECU will not give the bike full throttle until 5000 rpm. That is the reason it feels so calm and beginner-gentle at lower revs but then becomes a wild beast above 5000. Moore Mafia has a couple vids on the busa ECU. Good to see you riding it in mode A! Thanks for the review, cheers from Australia. 😎

So, regarding the cluch... I think I put it down to the bike being used at an event day at Elvington (like a drag strip in the UK to those unaware). Lots of launching and I'd imagine lots of clutch slipping, i think it took a beating. I'd love to ride a demo that hadn't been on this day and see if it felt any different and we had adjusted the clutch to as close as it could be. But it really did make it pretty hard for me to ride which was a shame as I loved the bike!
@wizrom30462 жыл бұрын
@@UsernameKate ... I think it might be related to your Suzuki custom clutch lever? That might have different geometry to the stock one but really they should have got that right in the design. There is a mechanics adjustment down on the clutch itself, maybe someone fiddled with that when they installed the new clutch lever. I guess you tried all the 5 clicks on the lever adjustment knob? Sorry that something reduced your enjoyment of a bike that is so nice to ride! 🤔
@UsernameKate2 жыл бұрын
@@wizrom3046 yea, we thought that too but didn't have one with standard levers to compare it to! Such a shame because I wanted to take it over hardknott pass in the lakes but not without comfortable control of the clutch. Yea, lever was adjusted on the closest setting. Oh well, an excuse to try again at some point! 😁

I have the Gen 3 in White and the Gen 2 in white/black. Both bikes are phenominal in terms of performance but the Gen 3 has more mid-range power.......mostly where we mere mortals use it ! The ride by wire throttle is the reason for the 'stiffness' on the throttle grip. You will get used to it and when you turn off the cruise control its a forward twist to cancel it hence the multi-function throttle grip. Glad you love the Gen 3. Its a fabulous bike

Back in 2013 I had a ride of mates 2011 Hayabusa for a couple of hours (he rode my 2012 VFR1200f) and we rode through traffic and later highway and mountain twisties. I found it a much smoother bike in traffic, just as good in the twisties and it definitely had more power than the VFR when you gave it the berries. The only downside for me was a more forward leaning seating position than the VFR and as I was age 51 back then I did start feeling discomfort. Still though, a truly great bike. PS: It's so very good to see you back riding again Kate.

I would advise anyone, who owns the 2022/23 hayabusa to get rid of the OEM windscreen and get the Zero Gravity double bubble screen because the OEM screen put the wind right at your chin level but the Zero Gravity double bubble will put the wind at the top of your helmet ! This applies to anyone who is 5'4" tall to 6'2" tall !!!

Hi Kate, enjoyed your little run on the Busa, a few years ago I had two new ZZR1400 this sort of hyper bike really was under rated in as much that they are happy when you potter about on one, but give it the beans and warp speed comes very quickly, and even though they are long and low they can still hustle. But eventually the riding position and my aging frame led me down the GS route. Hope you get a chance to give it the beans safely, without losing your license. Thank you...

Back in 97 I bought a ZZR1100 and my mate bought a Busa. One day we decided to have a roll on competition from second gear up Wrotham hill in Kent, which back then was a popular stretch of road for speed testing. Within seconds of the nod, my mate was just a blip in the distance. My ZZR might as well have been a 250 superdream.

I have the same gen 3 Hayabusa in silver. I lowered 2” in rear which helped me balance it better, added a full Voodoo exhaust system (dropped 40+ lbs of weight from stock), Zero Gravity double bubble windscreen and most recently did the ECU flash and dyno tune. Not sure if y’all have the ECU flash update yet in Europe?? but we have it in the states. The flash helped the throttle response since it’s a ride by wire system it takes some force lol - Amy

Cracking review and nice riding. I have a 2006 Gen 1 Busa (prefer the basic fully analogue dash TBH), bought it last September, 18 months after passing my test (aged 49) and a few thousand miles on a K4 GSXR600, i'm absolutely in love with it, the weight is a bit of a bind when moving it about (i'm not huge at 5'7") but small price to pay for the lovely ride, the weight makes it feel very stable and planted when on the move. The "big Gixxer" comment was spot on, i fitted a 1" bar riser to mine which made a big difference.

Hi Kate. Good review nonetheless. The sceneries from the video were amazing indeed. I've been using the Gen 3 for three (3) months now. Due to the monsoon, its been rather 50:50 for weekend tour:commuting. The bike was purchased for commuting purposes. On the contrary, my only gripe is the gearbox actually. Once it is in Neutral (e.g. traffic stop, actual stop), it will not click into gear, like at all lol Need to wiggle the bike a bit back & forth a few times and only then it could click into 1st gear. For once, I had block the traffic due to my bike staying in Neutral when the traffic light had already hit green (kinda embarrassing actually lol) In another scenario, I'd park my bike and then putting it in 1st gear (it was on a declining surface), again, the gear refused to change upon clicking the lever. Furthermore, the engine also failed to start, even when I had pull the clutch while trying to have it started. Hence, wiggled the bike & the issue was solved. I've queried the issue to the authorized service center during my 1k km service, they had just brush it off as the "bike's character". Well, I can live with that. Just a strong reminder to myself not to fiddle on the gearbox once the engine is off. Since my stature is rather stocky and short , no issue on wrist or other significant body aches from the ergonomics. Though, I have found the seat height is rather compromising if I need to use both feet on the ground to "crawl" with the bike during heavy traffic. Hence, I had it lowered by 1.5" lol

I put a Puig windshield on my '23 and found that I can go 75 mph without getting my head buffeted around as with the stock windshield. It was good up to 65 mph. I also bought the eBay aluminum foot pegs which drop about 1.5". Now I am not so scissored-up on the bike, being 5'9". Bar risers will give me another inch or so of decompression and then touring will be feasible. Very good review; thanks.

Excellent feedback. I am the same height and find the stock screen aims the windblast straight where I crack the visor open. Also fancy the lower footpegs and bar risers. Apart from that this generation of the Hayabusa is by far the best.
