Wow its like being in like 2009 with so many half life things happening at the same time. All this was only possble beacause so many fans kept this game a life. I think I was a bit afraid around 2017 that is game would vanish into the past. This will allways make feel stange since I saw my dad playing witout understanding anything almost. Only that bad guys needs a bullet and Alyx and the others where friends. Ravenhorn was even more eerie and stange because didnt understand english at the time so just came out of nowhere for me. the day and night circle really me that idea that many hours had pasted and witnessing Black Mesa East for the first time I was also a very strange feeling since it was at night. My child was overwhelmed, but sometimes I get theses moments again and just takes me back to the past.

@@Rojfos Nah that's not the reason, 1) Unreal Engine 5 doesn't use anything of Source, so the models, textures ect would be incompatible with UE5. 2) Valve requires you to make any mod (Source or not) a mod for the base game, due to the fact that they don't own anything related to the ip and so on. You also have to own a licenses or struck a really good deal with Valve to make the mod cost ex Black Mesa.

This is definitely an amazing time to be a Half-Life fan. Of the bunch, Project Borealis is probably the biggest surprise, since the last updates were years ago, and many fans figured it just died in development hell. Well, not only that it's not, but the prologue drops in a mere few days. I'm honestly surprised it ended up not following in the footsteps of O:BM and Black Mesa to be a commercial product (would have gladly supported it), which makes me suspect the team was probably not given permission to go that route even if they wanted to, but either way, this is awesome news. This month's gonna be a banger for Half-Life overall. Project Borealis, the Anniversary Update, the next chapter of Black Mesa Blue Shift, and most likely sometime this month, Dark Interval Part 2. At last, a great time for Half-Life again. HL1 has also had another big update on its beta branch for some time now, so I'm suspecting that one might be pushed to the public around the time the update drops for HL2. I'm dying to know what exactly is coming to HL2, considering how much activity is going on in that test branch. If anything we can probably expect it to be even bigger than HL1's was, somehow.

I though it will be the full game tbh, 7 years for a tech demo... I don't want to be negative, but that's not really a good sign imo. That mean the game is far from ready, and in 8 years a lot of plans probably changed, which could explain why it took so much time to release this.

This game is not made by Valve, but by fans of the games. They probably did it all during their spare time. It's not easy to work on a big project with random people you don't know, it's much more difficult than working on projects within an actual company. Also, they're not even asking any money for this release. Are your expectations reasonable?

@@htpkey I never said they should release it for free, I would prefer to pay and have a full game (or at least an Early Access), what I said was the fact I'm just worried about this project, 7 years, even for a fan made project with only a demo in Ravenholm, I guarantee you, this can be done in like 5-6 months by 2-3 ppls working on their spare time. I'm really curious about the mechanics they will feature in this demo, but if this is just basic shooting and grabbing stuff with a gravity gun that will be pretty lame tbh. I'm not trying to be harsh with the project, I'm just worried about it, this is why I'm curious of this demo. I hope this project will shine.
