For people struggling with lengths and such, having just completed it here are some tips/tricks: For the gutted strand use about 4 inches past your length between the two tape pieces for the cobra section. After the 1st knot on the cobra that he shows, its wayyy easier to take the side opposite of the vertical line, go UNDER your diamond braid, OVER your remaining line...after that, then take that remaining line OVER the top of everything and down through the loop you just made with your opposite vertical line side. (essentially making a big 4 in the first step then threading the loop) I found this way quicker and easier than the S deal. Also: a clamp works really well for holding things in place if you wanna do it indoors and/or don't want to use a nail. For the section with cobra, he says 5 FEET of each line, which leaves around 8 inches of each to spare if you tighten in down really well the whole way.

Well, this looks like a lot less trouble and is a lot cooler looking than the straight up cobra weave I did for my sling last year. I do a bit of leather working too, so the bracket part will be easy enough. Looking forward to trying this out and maybe making some for friends.

thanks for the video. It will give me something to mess around with over the winter now. I do have a question. In the end of the video, you go up and cut the end of the cobra weave at the beginning of the spine,but don't show it. Why? Thats the only part i don't understand.

@bowhunter4e great tutorial dude, the only thing i was'nt sure on is at 6.40 where you cut the top strand and also the one underneath..where is the cut made, in the middle ?. what happens after that ? does the rest just come away and i have to burn the ends of what ive cut ? im going to make one this week sometime, thinking of trying a double spine with 2 thinner strands and colours...thanks again dude keep a BLING'IN

You screw it on to your bow with your stabilizer. It helps a lot with comfort when you're shooting compound bows. :)

Suggestion for when you are fusing the cord: lick your finger before you touch the molten cord. It makes it so you dont get burned, so you can create a better seal on it
@bowhunter4e
@bowhunter4e 14 жыл бұрын
@irisharmed paracord works best, it's also called 550 cord, it's about 1/8" in diameter...at that point in the video i cut the section of paracord that bunches up in the back, you don't have to do that, i just think that it looks cleaner, and yes, burn the cord so that it melts, this will keep it from fraying and coming undone.
@dac3006
@dac3006 13 жыл бұрын
I just want to start out by saying i find all your DIY video's highly useful . but in this video you said to cut the cord that overlaps the spine first on the top and bottom .but i never heard you explain the reason for that is.

again this is wonderful! I have one issue, my paracord ends wont meld and melt together, i can get 2 direct ends to stick for cobra weave on top of diamond braid, but center spine piece etc wont stick when end melted either, ideas??
@strumminalong1
@strumminalong1 10 жыл бұрын
your paracord could be made out of different materials, nylon and polyester will not connect by melting too easily.

@warlockfreak89 probably around 20' give or take to be on the safe side...about 10-12' for the diamond braid and another 8-ish feet for the cobra

So I have bought Paracord in the past but what do you recommend? I have seen at least 3 different types of 550 cord on the site I usually go to and it is 550 nylon, 550 polyester, and 550 "mil-spec" paracord. I have no idea on which one to get.

one good way for you to cut your diamond braid to length is get a extra razor blade and grab it with a pair of pliers then heat up the blade and cut the pcord that way when you cut the diamond braid to make it shorter or what ever no need for tape, it melts the whole braid keeping it tight

Why do you make those cuts on the cobra weave at your start point once you've finished the braid?
@simaod17
@simaod17 11 жыл бұрын
instead of gripping the bow which can unlevel/ unbalance it (doesnt shoot clean or accurate arrows) you can open your grip and use this wrist sling so when you shoot with an open grip the bow wont fall out of your hand :D

the proper way to hold your bow is to not grip it because it will make your muscles tense and your arm shake and make it a lot harder to aim correctly... this allows you to not grip the bow and let it fall into the sling instead... the correct way... you will see it a lot at archery ranges

@supersnare729
@supersnare729 11 жыл бұрын
It isn't really for comfort. The sling should actually be loose enough that you really don't even feel it on your wrist. In short, with proper form the top of the bow should fall forward after the arrow is released. The sling adds peace of mind and won't let the bow hit the ground.

I know this will ruin all the rugged man-power thing, but you do realise though that what you are calling cobra weave, is what women have been calling macrame for decades right, and it is actually used mainly for making jewelry and flowerpot hangers and such. I almost fell down from the chair laughing:) never the less, it does look good, but you are making it harder that it actually is to make. look up Macrame:)
