Project Cars Delisting - Why They Matter to Sim Racing!

Project Cars 2 was one of the most unique racing games I had ever played. Poured many hours into it and really appreciated how it was one of the only games that did the various LMP series cars justice. Not only that it had sooo many tracks and variations. Racing was intense and I really felt slapped in the face when they changed the direction to try to attract casuals.

I still run PC2. I play on xBox, and regularly set up two sim rigs and two consoles for my brother in law and myself. Setting up races with both of us and a grid of AI that has been tweaked to our level. Not perfect, but such good fun. Lots of different cars, tracks, and other options. Big fan of PC2.

Project Cars 2 was something special, particularly on console. The only game of comparable scope is TOCA Race Driver 3, and that is sim-lite. With the way console gaming is going, I'm not sure we will see anything like it again. 😢

TRD3 was a real effort to bring 4 wheel motorsport to the PS2. GT4 and *!Enthusia!* Also smashed it. The only thing Enthusia got wrong was; no drafting physics (that I know of) it was perfect for the DFP wheel. Those three games (along with some of the rally titles on the PS2) gave care to give quality ffb. I took that 30fps trash crew 2 back to the store today, but I'll never part with them.

@@Surgicaldamage GT4 wasn't a good effort though... As a racing fan, Gran Turismo is incredibly underwelming since the racing itself is pretty bad. GT was only a good game for people who like cars, not motorsports.

When I had a PS4, I only had 2 games, well 3!..PCars 1, PCars 2 and GTA V. That’s all I wanted… Now I am looking at moving to PC gaming, I just bought PCars again from Steam, ( which is still for sale). Bannochbrae was pretty awesome, that last sector had the sting in the tail didn’t it? I raced a lot on that circuit…. I do have about 9 short vids of PCars 2 of which some of them highlight tyre issues! That was a shame, and I don’t think to my knowledge it was fixed on PS4. All said, PCars really is awesome from a real life racers perspective. I spent a lot of time trying to tune the Mustang 2+2 to make it better, and I really enjoyed the factor of car set up staring with a jalopy😁. I spent more time in that car than any other😆. The thing that spoiled the game was my wheel and pedals. I had a T150 which has truly awful pedals. I never got round to upgrading it, and sold it with my PS4. This time around I will focus on getting decent pedals, although the second hand market is still high prices….

i don't think any other sim has offered the level of content variety that PC2 has, including cars and diciplines in no other game. i hope the next project cars continues what PC1 and PC2 started and that the devs also develop the casual play of PC3 into a spin off series for more casual audiences.

I was a Forza Motorsport guy before I ordered a copy of PC2 from Amazon. For a sim, It's so easy to pick up and play. They won a big fan, it's a shame that they killed the series off.

I've been a Forza Motorsport / horizon since day 1. The new Motorsport was that bad it made me go buy a ps5 and gt7. I don't have a wheel for playstation so I just bought pc1 and 2 on Xbox and it genuinely think it's better than Motorsport.

This is the problem with digital games, they can be deleted and gone forever. If they are going to delist a game at least keep the DLC available to buy or give it out as a final free patch to those people who own the game but did not pick it up yet. When they deleted driveclub I had none of the DLC and only found out it was gone until after it was deleted. Maybe the gaming platform has a responsibility to put out a notification letting you know it's going to be deleted , if you want any DLC buy it soon.

Now then, I'm probably going to sound like either a moron or a dick here and I do apologize for that, but your response unfortunately was of no help. To me being able to 'play' it forever and being able to 'download/install' it forever are VERY different things. What I'd like to know (if you know) is: If the game is still on my account, but currently uninstalled, do I need to get it downloaded and installed before it is delisted?

What about Elephant in the room you didn’t mention? The game breaking bugs ???? I agree with your comments it was/is a good sim but the bugs made it unplayable especially PC1. Ie: racing in the wet when the AI run on slicks,game crashes after many patches,there’s loads of issues you didn’t mention which ruined the entire experience. It was good for a 10lap sprint race but anything that includes pit stops wasn’t worth it because AI wouldn’t pit as they should irl. This had the potential to be an awesome title but SMS pissed off so many players because there attitude to the issues was disgraceful. I had first hand experience of SMS not caring about bugs ect. The biggest love hate title ever.

Omg finally someone speaking the truth!!! Pc2 is good at times but the bugs and glitches make it unplayable. Unless you only wanna run practice or custom events in dry weather only it’s lacking imo

I find PC2 very good for me even if it does have some quirks to the game. I also enjoy doing the game in VR. I also have PC1 but find myself spending more time with PC2. Thanks for the video review. Take care.

I'm a retro game collector and having a clear out potentially looking to trade in my Xbox One S to CEX for much needed credit to go after retro Nintendo titles I found Project cars 2 which I gave up on years ago after being frustrated playing on controller and as I'm also a sim racer now I thought you know what I'm going to connect a wheel and see what happens now I'm in love with it and fully support the idea it's a sim I completely agree, now keeping my physical copy of the title plus by Xbox is now going nowhere it's single handily saved my Xbox One

Now I know why I was rubbish at ferrari challenge and super car challenge. They are sims. Trying this game for the first time, I need to get used to it. The customization options are impressive and I think it will need a weekend for me to grasp it. I'm an arcade gamer at the minute, but I'm glad I got this.

I run iRacing, AC, ACC, AMS2, rFactor2, Dirt Rally, and Project Cars 2..!! As a real racer and avid sim user I feel very comfortable with PC2 overall..!! It is only rivaled by AMS2 as a single player masterpiece..!! It pushed the limits at the right time..!! Glad I've got it..!!

I'm thinking same why isn't it on sale. Project cars 2 cost over 60 dollars but deluxe cost about 90 dollars. First project cars cost 15 dollars but if you get bundle that comes with game and all 12 DLC it cost about 40 dollars and you save about 27 dollars if you buy bundle.

It was a great time with project cars 2 I live in Texas so I got excited when I find out it has Texas Motor Speedway and Circuit of the Americas, IndyCar and everything else was a bonus for me!

I feel basically the same about PC1 and 2. But for the slightly wonky ffb PC2 was/is the console sim, especially for people who like historic racing cars and circuits too.

I to this day still drive ProjectCARS , mostly alone nowadays as the online community is on Pcars2 but can get a small Nordschleife Cruze lobby from time to time . Driving the P1 and the Zakspeed in Pcars is what I love doing after a stressful day or when I don’t want to race competitively in ACC

The 2020 decade is proving to be a dark decade for sim racing, and the fact that both PC1 and PC2 are being delisted makes it even more darker. Those are games that kills Forza and Gran Turismo, especially about realism. Hell, back when PC1 was released in 2015, the game had a mountain of positive reviews, even by being new in sim racing. Those facts also shows how Project CARS (both games and the franchise) is a masterpiece. It was one of the most ambitious sim racing franchises I have ever seen. We will never be sure if we're going to experience such a thing like this again. It was good when it lasted, but games like these will never die, and neither will the franchise itself. Project CARS. What a name for a sim racing franchise. It feels like a punch in the stomach watching both PC1 and PC2 being delisted. I hope I'll never get to experience such a thing like this again.

You pushed me over the edge toward ordering it and I'm looking forward to its arrival. That's a buttload of tracks I've never gotten to drive! I wish there were a way to get the DLCs., especially the Le Mans Legendary circuit but it appears they're gone as well. I really wanted to drive that one.

Community events (though dead for a long time) and timetrials are now no longer available, ProjectCars2 is officially dead. Fuck EA, RIP the game that got me interested in more serious sim racing.

You can’t even finish your career, for some reason once you get passed the super trofeo championship doesn’t matter what you do for some reason your progress won’t save unfortunately. Since EA took over publishing the F1 games, they have delisted from Steam every one prior to 2020. As a result I am immediately suss when I hear about it happening to other games.

I love pcars 2 i have bought and install alot of different racing games since pcars 2 come out but none have stayed install on my system for long and pcars 2 as been install on my system since release. really says it all and i can wait to get a ps5 to play at a higher resolution.

This is a brilliant video so sorry I missed. I'm a dad with a kid I can't afford PC OK.. shoot me! I watched sim racing videos online all the time because it interested me but I couldn't take part at all. Project Cars changed that and I bought a G29 as a result. I honestly believe without Project Cars there'd be no Asseto Corsa, ACC on console and i love them. You can' talk about frame rate and mods till the cows come home, the fact is I watch a load of this content online and I enjoy it, but I can play perfectly serviceable sim content on console. I'm thankful for what I can play!

My only problem with PC2 is the fact that TCS literally doesn't not work, especially on a controller, and my car would spin out as a result. 😢😥 Otherwise, it's a great game. 👍👍

The TCS works perfectly in PC and PC2, one of the few titles to actually model the difference between road and race systems. I suspect the issue you have isn't TCS related, but the controller optimization, which wasn't great in the first two titles.

PC2 street tyre model continues to be the best, most certainly, as well as rallycross physics. It is with slick tyres where the "issue" begins to be noticeable as the game shows how much they leaned physics towards drifting, specially with hard slicks. I think they should have released a full rally game with their rallycross physics. Would have been a killer. With soft slicks on racing cars in PC2 you can still have a semi-sim experience when it comes to track racing, but I still think it is in the street tyre and street cars where the game truly shines, because it is obviously drift oriented. And for race cars that feel truly realistic even with the problems with slick tyres..., I'd say GTE is the king in that category here. You can even drive them on hard slicks without having that unrealistic overturning (without punishment) feeling that they weren't able to fix in pc2. AMS2 still feels weird, regardless the improvements on slicks. And their street cars tyre model is not as good as pc2, which is also weird.

yh, i like most of what the game does, it has loads of content, sim style features, is well done mostly. But, i lose the spark when on the limit of grip, just feels as u said, kinda drift mode. it slides so linearly, like no momentum, or weight transfer, and grips back the same way, like on cold wet. it slides alot but u dont feel the thrill of near disaster, it just keeps sliding more if u push it, and stabilizes when u go easy. i prefer ac for that, u feel on the edge so well, how it loses and regrips. too bad as i like the suspension and ffb feel, and all the rest of the game, except for ai not being smooth, and being jerky in movement. i was going to get the Japanese pack, but i was a lil late, at midnight sharp it got delisted on psn. oh well,,already lots of cars apart from that pack, and lots of Nissan, with good sound.

Can someone please help? I just got Project Cars 2 used on disc and I am seeing some Deluxe Edition digital download keys for sale on eBay. I would LOVE to get the DLC that's no longer for sale, but I'm not sure if it's still possible to get if you enter an unused key code in the online store (like the kind you get included in a physical box that you enter online to redeem). Anyone know if it might work?

Yep, delisted just means its no longer for sale, if you already own it you will still be able to download it.

I love PCars2 features and content (especially ability to setup diverse grids with more than 2-3 car models per class). Sadly I can't force myself to play neither PC2 or AMS2. The behaviour of rear axle is just awful with almost no progression between over and understeer during trailbraking or lifting. Also weight transfer feels "stiff and unnatural". I cannot point out what exactly feels off, but the effect is that I had to "relearn" the game every time I went to track IRL. For comparison I did not had to adjust to play R3E, older Simbin games or ACC. And driving car similar to mine in Assetto Corsa felt almost exactly the same as IRL.

Delisting doesn't mean death. You will still be able to play both games.
