Now that our cooling system is dialed in, the cracked header is fixed, and we can comfortably run the engine without breaking anything, time to put some miles on the Mustang!

Good choice on the dual pass radiator and square 295 setup. Those two things make huge improvement for driving hard, I also had a 50-row oil cooler for 30 minute sessions 195F/195F @ 100F ambient. Dual pass is much more efficient especially on the road course. Square setup, once you get up to 295's, make a HUGE difference, I was running 18X11 315's on my last setup, which finally eliminates understeer(gained about 3-5 seconds from 275's). Last thing I loved was my steering quickner, but your rack looks perfect for a street car. Wrapped the headers with DEI Titainium heat wrap, which eliminated a lot of heat in the engine bay and next to the plug wires. Congrats!
@TheSmokingTire9 жыл бұрын
+Meghani Motorsports I just ordered that DEI titanium shit along with ACCEL ceramic spark plug wires. Hopefully that fixes my plug wire boot melting problem.
@sittinheavy19 жыл бұрын
+TheSmokingTire Definitely should. I use the exhaust heat wrap on every manifold and you can pretty much touch the header after WOT. With modified headers they were super close to all wiring, never melted OEM plug wires or had any issues (30 minute sessions). DEI also makes Fire sleeves for wires, hose etc, if you have something super close and want redundancy. The exhaust heat wrap should be more than sufficient by itself!
@johnypiston9 жыл бұрын
+Meghani Motorsports Just subscribed to your channel based on your solid record of input on this channel. Your suspensions tips are especially appreciated.
@TheSmokingTire9 жыл бұрын
+Meghani Motorsports Glad to hear it. I have the fire sleeves on my current MSD wires, and even though the sleeve itself wasn't scorched, the boot melted inside the sleeve! That's why I need the ceramic plug wires and heat wrap. I can't keep dealing with that shit.
@sittinheavy19 жыл бұрын
+TheSmokingTire Gotcha, the heat sleeve is more of a preventative of the wire actually touching something hot. It doesn't have a reflective radiant barrier that would deflect the heat away from the wire(gold foil). The turbo manifolds I use the heat wrap on, glow red under WOT, and like I said you can damn near touch them after being wrapped. The ceramic coating alone didn't seem to make much difference IMO, other than corrosion resistance.

+TheSmokingTire You've had shops building your car for 18-months and all of a sudden you're worried about cost? How much do you have into this thing? Use your connections and see if Ford will strike you a deal and sell your current motor for a couple grand.
@TheSmokingTire9 жыл бұрын
+moaski of course I'm worried about cost. Cost is everything. Cost is the reason my car isn't like a SEMA ready show car. I got very lucky in that this car came with a crate engine already in it, with less than 500 miles on it. There was no reason to spend the extra money or the extra time doing an engine swap.
@moaski9 жыл бұрын
+TheSmokingTire You'd gain a reliable 50hp, probably another 50+ torque, with a warrantee and no added weight. It wouldn't be a Sema car, but it would be borrowing from the best of another generation of Mustang.

Explorers came with the GT40p heads+ upper and lower intakes. Flowed better than any other stock 302 setup from the factory so everyone wants them as they are a cheap uprgrade. However, when you build a car like this you need better heads and not an alphabet cam.

Procharger is a brand, not a type of forced induction so don't say 'Procharge it.' The correct term is Centrifugal Supercharger. LOVE this body style Mustang. When I was a kid I would always drool over the CHP modified version of this car. I got a kick out if it because you dont see that many 5 speed police cruisers.... But those were used to catch speeders. Brilliant video. Love those fenders.

Love what you've done with the old hot pursuit police Foxbody! Well done! Love the all black everything as well. If you ever put it up for sale & I magically have the money to purchase it, I would gladly receive it. But I'm pretty sure you'll be keeping this car for a long time. Love all of your videos brother! Been following you since the drive/ tuned days.

Kudos.. nice hot rod. I had a '88 Notchback that I bought new in '88. Traded it for one of the '90 7-Up convertibles. Both were great cars, but I liked the 5 speed in the '88 better. Matt's got it going on!..

Old video yes.. But I have been thinking of eco-boost fox body Motor pushed back as far as I can to try and get the weight centred Leave the motor pretty much stock and focus on the handling aspect and be able to hit the track and drive it home. This video is what inspired the idea years ago when I first watched it. Build a proper svo that is still technically a 2.3. Thanks Matt for the inspiration

Hey Matt, this is probably a little bit late for you to see a comment on a video this old. Probably don't recognize me but I watch all your videos and we have a chat every once in a while lol. I loved how you went into a little bit more detail for a minute or two at the beginning of this video, and would love to see that format make its way into your other one takes! Cheers.

Awesome car! I respect well sorted out cars that aren't all engine. Glad it turned out the way you wanted it and that it makes you happy because in the end it's all that counts!
