Are the graphics better than that of EverQuest II?

Hey Mikael, that's a good question. In some sense, no, in others, yes. What I mean is that EQ2's graphics are consistent and worthy of their original AAA budget. Project Gorgon, however, is an inde title, yet it uses an updated engine so you easily can enjoy 2x the framerate as EQ2. PG also has access to more advanced graphical options than EQ2, but the fact doesn't change that art in Project Gorgon likely is still placeholder. One option is to view videos (Josh Strife Hayes recently released a video) and compare them side by side. :)

These are typically one hour events where musicians, dancers, and poets gather to perform massive amounts of combat and crafting buffs for players to use that typically last a few hours. There’s also raffles for rare titles and items. This happens every Saturday in Serbule Tavern.

This game has a super small dedicated community with a passionate husband and wife team that care more about exploration and creativity. Over 150 skills to level 80 to learn as well as you can mix and match any two of 27 combat skills to make a combat build including animal combat skills. For example you can use cow combat skill with necromancer combat skill to be a warlock cow. It’s very creative and each build plays drastically different.

Looted gear has 100 Crafting Points. Crafted gear has 120 Crafting Points. Crafting points and Enhancement points seem to be used interchangeably in the game, btw. I think they'll eventually consolidate to only naming one, but Tailoring calls it EP while Shamanic Infusion calls it CP.

@@MarleMMO So that's maybe part of the problem, until you add something, you can't see what is left. Most Shamanic Infusion abilities use up 100. I think maybe all of them do. That essentially means you can have one Shamanic Infusion addon per item. They are pretty good buffs though so its fine. A lot of people level Shamanic Infusion up on looted items just to get it to the higher levels before putting final buffs on the gear they actually use so they can do the highest stuff, but when you are low level none of your gear really matters so feel free to just put buffs on it for the crafting XP. I would recommend if you are in a guild to see about getting some +inventory space gear at some point though, it's such a huge game changer as far as making early life easier that I highly encourage you to consider it. You'll find that a good cloth Chest and cloth Legs with +20 inventory on both goes a long ways towards making your dungeon runs last a bit longer. Once you have it, you'll wonder why anyone plays in Chest or Leggings other than crafted cloth with inventory space.

It’s a great mmo for lovers of old school and hard dungeon encounters. No instancing, over a dozen of guilds and over 150 skills going to level 80. You can mix and match any two combat skills out of 27 to make builds including even animal builds. For example in game I use spider combat skill with Druid skill to be a poison warlock or sometimes I use rabbit combat skill with ice magic combat skill to be rabbit wizard. This game is very creative from a pve situation when you do group and single combat dungeons.

Man... I played this game for a bit years ago, real early in its early access... I should give it a go again. Looks a lot different lol. I just remember there were live events all the time that were pretty cool.

I used to play the alpha when it was still available in a web tab and it's quite a bit different than then -- betrayed by better graphics, horses, more polished animations, pets.. you name it! In September, they added a new level 75 to 85 swamp zone in game called Povus along with animal breeding, metal armour making, paleontology, the ability to tame a dinosaur kitty. They added in a defend the town from zombie horde mechanics like seven days to die. They also added in a level 85 mushroom dungeon and now every combat skill can go to 85 or higher with bonus levels. Also in February they added horse mounts with storage and the horses are bought in hogans keep in Eltibule.

Not Eldevin, actually the former devs of Asherons Call are the heads of the project IIRC

Here's their curriculum vitae: Eric Heimburg, Project Gorgon creator and lead developer, has over a decade of experience working as a Senior and Lead Engineer, Developer, Designer and Producer on successful games such as Asheron’s Call 1 and 2, Star Trek Online and other successful Massively Multiplayer Online Games. Sandra also has extensive experience working as a Producer on Asheron’s Call 1, Asheron’s Call: Throne of Destiny, EverQuest II, and EverQuest II: Echoes of Faydwer.

It has no connection to Eldvin. This game has been a project since 2011 so it was made way before Eldvin. The developers are a husband and wife team who have been dedicated to making this game and view this game as their child as they have no children of their own in real life. Thus this game has years and years of content and while the community is small, it’s dedicated and more alive than Eldvin. Heck I played Eldvin but quit because it was dead. This game on other hand is not but it is a niche game because it’s for lovers of old school MMO’s.

Interesting association. I wonder if you're referring to Funcom's other MMOs by chance? Conan Exiles is a survival game with building mechanics akin to Ark Survival. Project Gorgon is closer to Asheron's Call or Anarchy Online. 🙂

Graphics arnt everything. Once you get past that notion, you realize the beauty of this game. Take a car 🚘 would you rather want a really nice looking car with a shitty engine or a an average looking car with a superior engine. The content and creativity of the skills in this game alongside the dedicated community is what makes this game magical. The looks are not what makes it good.

Hi ENHjsmoov! In my most popular Project Gorgon video, I discuss the monetization of the game. I agree that for most curious gamers, they should wait for a sale. However, for those who /know/ they would enjoy a title like this due to interest or MMO backgrounds, I personally have gained more than whatever price I paid (..although admittedly I was a Kickstarter backer many moons ago!). I currently hold a VIP membership to support the project. Do you/have you played Project Gorgon? :)

Highly disagree, I have over 5k hours in this game and have played for 4 years. This games community and content is deeper than most triple aaa games on Steam. Don’t be blinded by the way it looks. Trust me there’s tons of pretty games on Steam that look great but suck. You gotta be open minded to experience the beauty of this game.

I think it's far that people can have their own sense of relative value. I personally don't think retail is worth a subscription price yet that doesn't mean it subjectively isn't to someone else. :)

Be warned while the community of Project Gorgon love the game. They also have a deep mistrust of the two creators who are known to dodge, delete and generally ban anyone that has even the slightest criticism of their "master piece". While I have no encountered this myself there are multiple well documented cases on reddit and other forums, that aren't managed by the two creators.

I'm active in their forums & Discord and have not personally noticed any dissonance as described in your comment. With that said, I could see disappointment as a result of a long development period and the introduction of a VIP subscription. I am glad you have not been a victim that process. ​@@MarleMMO I played 500 hours and sadly left due to the predatory p2w scheme they implemented with the VIP package. Which allows paying monthly users to progress way past the buying in users. For anyone that doesn't know Project Gorgon is a $40 buy in. Adding onto that high price is the new VIP system which means, if you pay an extra subscription of $11.99 a month (which rivals the subscription fee of high quality mmo's like FFXIV and SWTOR) you can progress while offline and have significant advantage over players that don't have subscription. Anyway, here are just a couple of reviews that speaks volumes as to why Project Gorgons management, admin and developers are a very toxic group of individuals. "I hate to have to leave this review but even if this is your kind of game I can't recommend it. It's a lovely little world, or rather it would be if it didn't have a demented covid denying conspiracy nut admin dolling out 30 day bans to people without review or recourse... el oh el. @@dylanbyrne441 The vip for this game is completely optional meaning it’s not a huge mechanic that gives you significant advantage or anything. Simply it’s if you want extra storage for dungeon raids or something. With that being said you can hangout and level skills while your offline however it’s very small experience to make any drastic difference. It’s meanly meant to level skills you’ve never done before or skills you have that you want to do on an alt. For example my character is hanging out for next five days with an npc to learn cooking and after the 5 days, he will only gain 3-4 levels. In which I could have easily gained through a real hour of play time. So the vip leveling is not game breaking. This is simply a case of players being misinformed about the functions of the game and casting their own judgment. Also, there have been countless people banned for the game but it’s not always the real reasons they state in their Steam reviews. For example I have seen people in game flirt obnoxiously with other players that lie about the reason they got banned as well as players exploit the game to get advantage over other players only to lie about their bans as well. Personally I’ve played this game for over 4 years and logged over 5k hours. It’s a really fun game. So please see it for yourself for whoever reads this before you jump to our conclusions.

Yeah we've all seen the other stuff posted of what you're talking about, and that's already been confirmed it was someone being salty for getting banned because they didn't know when to stop. There are plenty of players that have complaints about stuff and they all still seem to be there. Are you sure you weren't one of those boobs that got banned for being a douchebag? You sound pretty salty to me for someone that didn't get banned!

Thank you for sharing and providing links. It seems reasonable to me that not everyone will have an overwhelming experience with the game nor their developers, yet I can speak from personal experience that the VIP is not P2W in the conventional sense of the initialism nor are the developers notorious for frivolous bans. With that said, I will not dispute actual contra-evidence nor underplay other's experience that has been worse than mine. With that said, I hope you have found and am enjoying a new MMO home. :)
