I would like to briefly say that I started playing Everquest recently on the "Project Quarm server" to experience a more classic Everquest progression feel and this would have never been possible if I didn't play Project Gorgon. The reason why is because members from the Gorgon community came from Everquest and simply would always talk about the glory days of classic and then say Gorgon is their new home. In which after playing Gorgon for so long, I eventually transitioned to Everquest. With that being said, Gorgon may not be Everquest in terms of how it functions but it does have elements of Everquest in it as well as elements of other older mmo's in which I really value. It's amazing to me how I progressed in MMO's from Old School Runescape to Project Gorgon and now to Everquest. A perfect example of how all these games may be different but are interconnected in a way where fans of these games can find similarities in each game and still have fun.

Gorgon is a great game with a great community. From a glance just looking at it, you don't really realize how indepth everything is in terms of its systems and often many times a player will write it off because It's "Early Acess" Or "Indie". However if you stick with it and like to explore, enjoy sandbox elements or enjoy massive amounts of skills as well as the old school community. There's a lot of fun to be had. In terms of its population, it's very much comparable to Mud's in the sense that it's niche and not popular enough to reach a mainstream audience as elements in this game are more old school and thus because of how the MMO landscape and it's players have changed. It won't appeal to everyone but for players that love learning new skills and exploring, this is a great game.

Gorgon is a blast, I've never made much progress but you can become a pig. It has it's own skills AND unique gameplay effects. Most NPCS will not speak to animals, every day I learn something new. Saturdays have an amazing poetry jam too! If you ever want to see something unique for an MMORPG you should at least wait for that before you decide anything, truly a sight to see. Great Video and recap by Kaskrim. In regards to inventory management, It may be overwhelming at first as a new player but the more you play Gorgon the more you adapt and find ways to either better organize with the various NPC's scattered across the zones or items to give you more storage. Regardless, Gorgon is very much a game where everytime you log on your constantly going on a new journeys and your player is growing and evolving. A staple of what Old School MMO's used to be.

I've played a bit of the demo several times over the years. I like where the Devs head is at with the game, but I'd give ANYTHING for them to suddenly fall into enough money to hire 10+ OTHER Devs to bring the game out and polish it up (a lot).

Ngl, this game surprised me. Obviously the graphics are crap, but the content is more refreshing than most garbage out nowadays. The fact that only a husband and wife developed this game and made it have better immersion and content than development teams with 100+ people. I'll definitely continue playing as it is casual, chill, and I am certainly enjoying it.

I played the demo and I loved it one thing I liked about it is , the no hand holding and I love how you can level up so many things I love the adventure aspect of it the old school mmo feel is where it’s at.. As much as I loved world of warcraft I’m just sick of all the copy and paste of the formula of that game it’s a breath of fresh air with this game

Also in regards to Gorgon's Mechanics or inventory management. I think mechanics in mmo's get easier the more your familiar with it. I know when I first started Everquest, it was confusing as crap to get all the macros set up and all the commands never playing a game like this before. It was also really confusing setting up all the chat systems as well as getting Gina (an audio trigger system) to function as well as setting up nparse a 3rd party map system. However, the more I read and the more I kept up on everything, it eventually made perfect sense and now playing as a bard in Everquest. I have learned how to "twist" songs properly using different macro's. So in regards to Gorgon's mechanics, If your struggling don't give up. It will get better the more you stick with it and Marle's videos will definitely help you.

I've been having a blast with the demo. I really enjoy the freedom it gives you with gaining skills & exploring the lands. The thing I've not been a fan of is the UI. I initially had problems with UI elements overlapping one another, or when a new one pops up, it overlaps something I need to see on-screen. I've spent about 8 hrs in it so far & think I've finally got the UI under control.

Also Marle, I'm a little bias now since I played Everquest but I actually love these corpse runs and exp loss. I know i'm in the minority here saying this but wish Gorgon had an opt in more hardcore feature than what's already there.

Corpse runs do add an element to PvE. I think there is a middle ground somewhere. But yes, in principle, I agree with you. 💖

Been playing this game for years. I'm surprised at how many rings and other gear you have in your inventory. Typically, you only really need to hold on to the gear you actual use and the rest you can sell to Larsan (jewelry), Tadion (gear), Joeh (gear), Mushroom Jack (mob uniques) or Marna (almost everything) in Serbule. You can also gift some of the loot to them to increase their money pools and/or have them give you inventory space. This game is hard for a lot of newer players because other MMOs have trained players to think they should hoard or hold on to stuff. In PG, you just can't hold on things, you should Craft with it, gift it for Favor, Barter for better items, or Sell whatever is left. In that order, usually. You'll never go back to most of your older gear so you can just sell it, IMHO. Higher level gear, even if it's not purple or yellow, is almost always better than lower level purple and yellows, too, so just sell most of your stuff. You can level up to 50 or 60 in your inventory gear and then ask a crafter to craft you gear specific to your needs. Almost all end game and higher level gear is crafted gear, with the exception of many types of weapons right now. Weapons and off-hands you mostly loot, but after some of the weapon crafting skills come out, I suspect crafted gear will eventually take over for those, too, based on how much better crafted staves and clubs are right now than the looted versions you find.

I love all of the comments kindly giving me advise on how poorly I manage my inventory xD Thank you so much for the tips! I think I recorded this interview after a string of other 'tours' in which I looted a lot of items and did not have a chance to sell/disenchant. 💖
@GravitoRaize8 ай бұрын
@@MarleMMO I understand. I'm not complaining, just offering a recommendation for what to do during your next downtime. Inventory management is just part of the game. There isn't really a button to "sell junk" like other MMOs. It's impossible to know for sure what to hold or get rid of, because one man's trash is another man's treasure. But early on about 90% of what you pick up is worth selling or gifting to another NPC, and the few other items are items you can store in NPC storage till you get a lot of them. Take Strange Dirt, for example. By itself, it's pretty much worthless. But if you save up 99 of them, you can sell them for 8-10k in trade no problem.

The only thing holding this game pack from proper growth is how the game feels. Movement is to clunky and graphics are far to dated for even the EQ audience from the many I’ve talked to. But damn it has everything else and it’s all great. The game easily has the worst visual progression on the market and I think it’s a real problem for them. I would bet if they got a quote from someone to at least work on player movement, animations and armor visuals they community would come together and make it happen. That’s how passionate we are for their success. If it was any other game I’d never make that comment but PG has a special community. I myself personally already donated $500 and feel I’ve made a return long ago. Their hard work has never made me regret a cent.

I've played so much the art doesn't look bad to me. It would be weird to me if it suddenly had completely different art, would it still feel like the same game even?
@MarleMMO8 ай бұрын
Just updated - not an entirely new style. 🥰
@PiperVlaar8 ай бұрын
@@MarleMMO Yes... but I feel like a lot o the people who complain about the graphics are looking for a different style because the graphics are actually quite complex in Project Gorgon, they are just not a super stylized like you see commonly in MMO these days, and I think that is what is causing the lack of appeal. These are not actually low polygon models or something. And it is more of the style that is causing these types of comments rather than the complexity. So unless they DO change the style this will continue to be a thing.
@MarleMMO8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think that if PG had a unified style that people would be more accepting. Hopefully during the Statehelm release period we'll see more work done on this front. 💖

Heard awful things about the creators. Can you say anything about their actions in the game? Also it seems really dead from what others said? It’s great that the game is doing well but if there’s no one there and the guy is a weirdo dick, then who wants to play? I have been interested but that’s what scared me away. P99 and Quarm player here
@MarleMMO4 ай бұрын
I can only write about my personal interactions with the team, and they have been professional, kind, and accommodating. I have interviewed Jack twice on my channel, plus the main & lead dev (each recently), plus a string of veteran players. So, "awful things" does not map onto my relationship with any of the creators. And in terms of 'dead,' no, there have been 3 content/feature patches this year, and my estimate is between 1k - 2k active players each month. This is for an indie early access MMORPG. In terms of weirdos, they unfortunately exist everywhere, virtual or 'real,' so thankfully there is a block button. I think you would find a lot to love about PG if you enjoy P99 & Quarm. I know I have. 💖 I have one more PG key to give away, so if that sounds up your alley, hit me up via my business e-mail!
