Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4) Nurburgring - SSC Ultimate Aero -

My fastest lap on the Nurburgring in Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4) using the SSC Ultimate Aero - "4:51.31".
This car is bonkers fast, and equally as bonkers to try and control. By far the most difficult car to control out of any PGR game. Due to the extremely high speed and the thin and technical Nurburgring, this took a long time to get a decent lap. Very very easy to spin out and lose control, especially under heavy braking.
I am fairly pleased with the lap, but am confident I can go a couple seconds quicker with a perfect run (of what I'm capable of anyway). The only obvious mess up was on the carousel. The physics on this part of the track are awful, it's very difficult to get the car to stay on the carousel.
I did get 53rd out of 14,516 at the time of recording though with no track cuts! I'm pleased with that!

Good lap! The two Karussels are so difficult to take right in the PGR games! 'Cause the physics play funny there. Apart from that the physics are very arcadey, the car feels like it would be using racing slicks, and even then, it would be slower irl compared to the game here. Still a very fun game!

Yep I completely agree! PGR2 is the best out of them on the carousel, but PGR3/4 the physics suck on this bit........ the car just bounces or slides off it every time! It's fun but very frustrating trying to get a good lap on here, like you say the physics are so arcadey and it feels like you will spin out at any moment haha

I disagree. If you play the video in 1/4 speed, you would notice that the car was lift up slightly during breaking which causes the car to steer to the right. We had learned that (in all PGR games) as soon as the car goes two wheels, the car would act differently/harder to control. And if you break during it, the car would steer to left or right and or lose control altogether. Slow down/break before the carousel and speed up while riding along. In other words, break before not after or within the carousel. Due to elevation differences before and after the carousel, it would caused the random RNGs/unpredictable outcomes. Only in trial, I had done a few optimal entries and exits. In a full run, I would enter it with a 50-55 MPH and then increases the speed as I ride along/exit the carousel.

I agree that my entry was a little hot, which caused the bouncing etc. I should have gone in slower. However that doesn't change the fact that the carousel physics are not good. Try it on PGR2, and then compare it on PGR3/4. In fact all in PGR's they are awful compared to sim games! Too slippy and too bouncy lol Alexp37 has a lot of experience on GTSport, so he knows when the carousel physics are not good! haha

I have no experience with sim racing at all... just looking from arcade racing pov 😅 . The only sim racing I tried was PC2. It was complete and utter failure 😞. Almost everything I do would send my car flying in all directions. So there is that for me!

Haha yeh realism goes out the window here! It feels wayyy too quick when driving around this track..... It makes it fun and challenging at least :)
