Sophie, I'm amazed at the amount of rust in that Disco & the hard yards you're doing to get rid of it. Anyone else would have just walked away. At my mates workshop we got a 2018 Hilux Dual-Cab that had as much rust on the chassis as your Disco. The bullbar was poorly powdercoated from the manufacturer & fell to pieces from the rust. The owner mainly takes it on the beaches for fishing but never bothered to pressure wash the salt & sand when he came back from his trips. It's failed registration (MOT) so we're working on it to get it back on (off) the road for him. He's aware how much it's costing to get all the work done. I would suggest that you go through any Land Rover wreckers where you are to find/replace bits & pieces too far gone that you can't find anywhere else. When you put it back together, make sure you use a ton of automotive body glue/sealant so it wont rust ever again. It looks as though road gritting has done it's work by rusting the chassis & the owner not washing underneath. By the time you go through it top to tail, it'll be a fantastic little Disco. Love your work as always!

I did a similar restoration on a 1979 Jaguar XJ6L about 25 years ago. Though the rust was not as bad, it was very rough. A farmer had been using it like truck in his field. When I was done, I took best of show at a concourse. I swore never again . My wife reminded me of what I said recently, when I was contemplating a very neglected Discovery 2 . Consider this an educational experience for you. You are learning many skills. Very impressive!👍

Hi Sophie. Don't worry about not posting, but thanks for explaining your situation. Like I told you before, Here in Detroit we are used to dealing with LOTS of rust on our vehicles, and it sucks! Just so you know, here in the States it's kind of an ongoing joke about any 10mm wrench. As soon as you get one, just throw it as far as you can because it's always the first size to come up missing when you need it. Hope you take some time to enjoy the holiday season. Thanks for posting.;-]

I thought the 10mm wrench issue was only an experience I had. I now have about 5 10mm wrenches because they keep reappearing after I buy a new one.

Oh my GAWD!! The rust on your Disco would terrify me. I live in the Pacific Northwest of the US and three years ago bought a 1999 Disco II with a bad transmission - from a broken driveline - and NO other issues besides a cracked windshield. Rust? Not one tiny, tiny bit, from one end to the other. It cost me all of $1,500; a good used trans $300. Have I done a lick of work on it? Nope. It sits in a friend’s garage. Sophie, if you were anywhere near me you could have my Disco. My friend would be thrilled.

Hi Sophie. Bought a D1-V8 also from 1993 last year. To use a donor car for our Def90 200TDi to V8 conversion project. It's a LHD and used as a 2 seater company car. The right hand seat isn't too bad. Not sure what I'm going to do with the 'left overs' but if you are looking for anything specific, let me know. Brilliant videos by the way. Keep it up!

Hi Sophie, I'm totally impressed with what you are doing. I'm just looking at buying a 2002 Disco that is going for scrap (cheap). You appear to be removing fasteners with dry threads, any reason you don't pre-lube with something like Plusgas - I prefer to WD40 - to stop threads binding when part way off. Unsure of surface preperation used but I find Vactan rust converter and primer excellent for chassis rails etc.
