As a Freelander 2 driver since 2012, it puts a smile on my face seeing this car doing so well offroad. It is a very capable and reliable car, never let me down, and had never a serious issue that made the car unavailable to drive. I am curious what random people in the UK thinks of this car in general. Here in germany you see some of them driving around but unfortunately british cars have still a damaged image to ordinary people. Cheers!

Hi there, LandRover is a bit of an odd brand, it's seen as a premium brand for the brave, people still pay a lot of money for one even though they aren't the best for reliability. I guess when they are bought on lease hire it's not so much of a problem. Out of interest, BMW, Audi and Merc... these used to be seen as premium but quality and reliability don't appear to be what it used to be with increasing use of plastics...what are the German people's view on the brands. Btw, this isn't me trying to defend LandRover, I have always wanted a silky smooth 6 cylinder BMW 4 series but have heard bad things about plastic components for timing chains and cooling
@goddamnox3 жыл бұрын
The Freelander 2 are very popular here in UK and seem to hold their value better than most land rover models, very comfortable and generally reliable and capable. So far love my 2013 HSE :-) our other car is a BMW 428i which has proved quite reliable too.

In the winter the ‘stream’ you crossed (which is actually the River Frome) really gets flowing and on occasion can be deep enough to flow back down the track you drove along just before it, may be worth a return trip later in the year! The drops the woman spoke of are at exactly 2:06, directly at the side of the right rut is a sheer 1-2m drop, if you put a wheel over you may well not get back out too easily. 👍

In my humble opinion, straight off the production line with no mods, the Freelander 2 is probably the best - what I would call "fake 4x4" - ever made by a manufacturer. Its angles, clearance, and 4WD system are great. The Discovery Spoof cannot compare to the F2, nor the Range Rover Ejoke.

Green laning can be great, there's 2 things spoil it, local idiots that place nails, sharp objects in the puddles and block lanes with tree trunks and idiots that go off piste and rip up the countryside. I know someone who had 2 tyres wrecked on his disco 3 due to barbs placed in a puddle, Wales is bad for this.
@L6633 жыл бұрын
I have not heard of this sort of sabotage before ! as you can see I managed to get 2 teenagers off their computer screen and out enjoying nature... who can be against this ? I do agree there are some total bell ends who drive 4x4 and rip up the countryside. We make a point of talking to everyone we meet and we have chatted with some really interesting people.
@andicog3 жыл бұрын
@@L663 There's a lot of it going on, they plant all sorts in puddles, pieces of sharp metal, barbs, nails etc, one day it will be a horse rider that cops it. Concrete blocks have also been placed on lanes by local farmers and I've seen wire strung over lanes to get bikes. its an ongoing thing. I've only had one bad episode after we stopped on the road to check the route and an irate local came out swearing and shouting! I'm 58 and have a standard ex mil 110 so am certainly no hooligan. Join GLASS, this way you can also check that lanes are open and report any problems. The group I used to go out with would metal detect down the lane to check for problems. There's plenty on the net, some lanes are well known for it, local officials will go out and clear a lane only for it to be blocked again days later. Some of the walkers can have a go as well, some believe it's their lane and no one else's!
