Sorry to hear about your leak, I had water dripping and it turned out it was just a clogged sunroof drain. I was hoping at first that was the reason with yours. My 94 has developed a loud chattering sound coming from the front of the bellhousing on a cold startup. It stops when in D or R. It increases in volume when idled up. Goes away quickly as the engine warms, but sometimes can made still at higher rpm. Can't hear it while driving. Any idea what this is? Flexplate? Car has 157k, shifts smoothly, and fluid appears clean on the dipstick with no burnt smell. Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for your question. The first thing that comes to my mind is the gear / bendix of the starter motor. It's possible that the gear doesn't fully retract after an engine start. My first LS 400 had this problem too. Only difference was that it was noticeable the first few seconds after a start. The problem with the 1UZ-FE is that the starter is positioned in the valley, it is pretty hard to get to. Anyway, I hope you'll be able to find out what it is. Good luck and thanks for watching!

@@Carnold_YTAppreciate the response. The sound is difficult to hear from the engine bay, but much easier to hear from under the car. A friend touched a broom handle to the oil pan, bell, and trans and held to his ear. Definitely loudest from the bellhousing. Of course, lots of other noises up there and the plenum covers it. Do you think it could still be the starter? I have seen the starter placement, not fun. The 3uz seems a bit easier in this respect. Thanks.

hey man, could you show me the process of fixing this issue, receiving a ls400 myself that’s had some water in it for a couple months. moldy now but i’ll get it cleaned up somehow

I will film the process, but I haven't started yet. I will try to tackle this job during the winter period. Thanks for your comment!

Is this a common problem with the LS Arnold? I know you said before the windscreen was replaced in the past, is it bad fitting or just an LS thing? At least it will keep you busy 😅

Hey Mike, I think it has everything to do with the replacement procedure. In one of the last episodes before the LS got back on the road, I repaired some major rust damage to the passenger side A-pillar. It was clear that the windscreen frame was damaged (scratched to bare metal) and not properly treated before installing the new windscreen. I think this is also the cause for the leaking along the top / leading edge of the roof skin. But hey: once a project car, always a project car. Thanks for watching!
