Why is this engine so clean inside? Mine was totally black with oi when oipened.

Very helpful video. Do you know what size those allen bolts are. Also, did you put anything on the gasket when you attached it to the oil pan? I just purchased an 85 300D and it has a dented oil pan that needs to be replaced. Mechanic was going to charge way too much to replace it. The job looks fairly easy so I think I could do it.

Take your time doing this job and clean everything nicely. You can put a little bit of RTV sealant on both sides of the gasket but you have to let it cure for 24 hours before putting oil into the engine! Please check out my recent videos! @VITO'S GARAGE do you clean the area with any product or are you just cleaning it with wrags?

Brake cleaner mainly and lint free shop towels. Make sure to clean the gasket mating surfaces to prevent any leaks. You can carefully do it with a razor blade. Just don’t press too hard so you don’t score or gouge the metal. It’s not hard, you can do it. Give you Classic Mercedes all the love. They’re amazing machines that will never be made again!

The engine was swapped with a good one. The old engine is still awaiting a rebuild. It had low compression on 2 cylinders. Check out my recent videos. New videos coming out every week. Cheers

Spray old gaskets with acetone, they'll melt away.
