Hi mate , i brought Rover home aswell today . After changing my first gasket , and one or 2 cycles after , he stopped starting . Changed the cap but no no avail. Afterall it was just the cable on the coil side . Problem fixed . But the cap needed a refresh tho .

Also the ohv engine was prone to pinking I never had a problem with cvh engine. I blocked the vacuum pipe to stop it from pinking on the ohv engine.

With paint could color got dull in those years on other car? Maybe that is why shade is different. Or it could be meh good enough mentality from those days. And yeah it is good question even if car did had what is on paper in terms of horses

I don't think the cars that left the factory had exact what the paper said in BHP or Torque, but close.

My recon ford escort 1.4 cvh had 160 psi when the engine was reconditioned.

@@usuallyfixingtinkering I wanted to see what the output would be from it when it was done as I was getting 140 psi and blue smoke also a spark plug was wet with oil. Back in the 90s lots of engine recon places where popping up but some of them where con artists they done a repair just to make an engine last until the one year warranty run out. I ended up taking it to a proper engine rebuilding place he took the head off the engine then he phoned me up I went to the garage and he showed me that oil was seeping past two of the pistons and the other was on the way out to I told him to strip it down and rebuild it. It was the best £330 I spent.

That's impressive and money well spent! That sounds like it was bellowing blue smoke by the sounds of it!

@@usuallyfixingtinkering sure was especially if you left it idling for a while blue smoke would come out of the tailpipe. It had done 90000 miles and was serviced every 6000 miles. The book was fully stamped. No sludge in the engine at all

Same here with this one, well serviced but still puffs a little. I have no move off for a noticeable amount of blue to come out.

hey, i've got a mk3 fiesta that im currently restoring aswell, i was wondering if you had to replace the door moulding at all? i see yours has the chrome strip down the middle, same as mine and im struggling to find anything for a 5 door, you got any links if you did have to buy them?

Yep it's 8mm chrome strips you get on ebay, however you cannot remove the strips off the door mouldings as they are literally pressed in, so you have to sand and key the surface and stick the new stuff over. The bumpers - you can remove the strips off completely!

Well it's running fine then leave it alone your lucky it's a 1.4 and not 1.1 it looks rust free but the black/grey down the bottom im not keen on Like the MK2 I no it's the better model i used alot of tools from lidi and the welding flux wire £4 a roll and the £25 grinder is a good one better then others the same money wat is it with automatic gearbox with you and and fords ??

The 1.4 is very rare in a MK3 unless it's an RS Turbo or XR2i which does make it interesting, I enjoy and prefer owning automatics to suit my relaxed driving style Ford or otherwise
