Project Speed Triple - Ep 1: Stator & wiring problems!

My new project is about to start, I've purchased 2 x cheap Triumph Speed Triples. 1 x road bike and 1 x track bike.
Replace stator and regulator, as well as rewire the ignition area or the wiring loom.

subbed, just bought an 07 triple here in the states, it's kind of wild how clean most of the used market is. I guess it's do to the initial first buyer being older and more mature haha.

I have a 2010 s3, I also had reg /rec problems only mine gave up while I was at motorway speeds shutting down the engine and locking up the back wheel. I'm looking forward to watching your build thanks for sharing

Did the stator solve the starting issues?

Hey mate, I think from memory it was more so the wiring causing the starting issue. However, the stator / rectifier was not helping. You really need to go right over these bikes if you want to make them reliable, get a good stator and rectifier and strip it down and inspect all the wires in the harness that run up to the bars from under the tank.

I've recently got myself an '06 Speed Triple and suspect it'll need the stator and reg replaced as well, how can I test the stator to confirm it's faulting?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIe7n5WonsyMnJo I would also do some research on line (forums etc) and see what people are using for replacements for you particular model. Ricks Motorsports Electrics were pretty helpful for me, so that's where I ordered my stator and regulator from.

@@mcrennagade873 According to some sources Ricks is selling crap Chinese stators.Many burn out in a week or two.

Hi mate, I started a new major project which consumed all my garage space and funds, so all 2 wheel bikes were sold off. I did all the work on the Triumphs off video to get them gone quickly. I'll be back on 2 wheels in a couple of years (maybe another speedy).
