I drove a 1965 Ford Econoline Pickup. I can’t believe that I drove that truck for my traveling sales job, worked for PCA international. Baby pictures in Walmart, K-Mart, Pamida Gibson, TG&Y. F.W.Woolworths. And others. I put around 20,000 miles on it then we pulled the engine and transmission out of a late 60s fairlane. A friend of mine bought it and updated and drove to the east coast. Cannot believe I’m still alive.

For some reason after discussing cutting the rear doors off an explorer, moving the cab back, mounting the rad support/headlight panel to the firewall and leaving the engine exposed, adding some old fenders a buddy has on front with a few buddies last night.....this pops up in my YT feed as soon as i open it up today.

I've watched many car resto YT vids, but this was the funniest. That rusty van is hilarious. This is some clever engineering. Moving the cab to the rear and building up the front end again. And the end result looks good. I bet some old Ford van designers are regretting they didn't think of this first.

Just found your channel 👍 brings back memories growing up in East Van 28th & Fraser in the late 70s / early 80s cruising up and down the back alleys looking for old cars that had been sitting for some time. Then we would go up to the back door " hey mister wanna sell us your car " What are you going to do with it? fix it up and drive it when we get our driver's license we had to get our dads to buy it and transfer it (we were still too young) sometimes we got them for free I think the most we ever paid for a backyard car was $125.00 bucks. then we had to get them home either my backyard or Garys yard Useally pushed or sometimes dad would tow it home for us. some of the gems we got 1968 Ford Cortina GT / 1962 Ford Falcon 2dr (3 years later we put a 302 + drive train in it from a Maverick) / 1961 VW BUS 1964 Chevy nova / and a few others I can't Remember oh and A old B S A motorcycle It kept us off the street

My first car was a 61 econoline that looked about the same as the second van you picked up. I drove ita couple months with one of the engine mounts rusted through. The engine was tilted over to one side on the dog house.. I had to drive it about thirty miles each day in the coldest months of winter, while I was in truck driving school. But yea,h it was a rust bucket! A funny story about it the time I was sitting at a stoplight, and a hot muscle car with an even hotter blonde in the passenger seat. The light turned green and the muscle car peeled out from the stop. I tried to do the same , except I had put my right foot through the floor. No problem though because I could open up the dog house and run the engine with a finger on the carburator linkage. After my first truck driving job I purchased a 77 short bed chevy van with a 350 four barrel, with three on the tree. I gave the old van to some friends of mine, who drove it into the front windows of an auto insurance office. My second Econoline van was a 65 econoline piskup. This one had a 240 with an oil bath air cleaner. The chevy had developed engine issues. I drove the 65 as a daily driver until the salt got very seriously into everything. I bought a new chevy work truck pick up and gave the econoline to a place in southern MN that specialized in Econoline's I didn't have any place to store the 65 and no knowledge of body work so I gave it a home where other people much more skilled than I could have access to spare parts, like I did. Was it a mistake? Absolutely! If I ever come into some wealth, I'll be getting one of those econolines as a toy for when I'm bored of the fancy cars I might have. On second thought, I'll have to money to get it fixed up no matter what.

Up until a few years ago I drove a 64 Econoline. Yes, I drove it. It was in much better shape. Now I have a 66 Falcon with an engine that looks exactly the same, but I think is slightly bigger displacement. Simple and reliable engines. I have daily driven that Falcon for about 6 years now. Still using the same used points it came with.
