Good video. Thanks. When I work on sediment bowls they usually leak the first time.

I’ve found out that some of the new ones aren’t any better. First thing to try is replace gasket with a thicker one. I get them off eBay. Second if you end up replacing, try to find the ones with the style nut I used in the video. It seems they work better than the ones with the old style nut.

You can get a sediment bowl that has a screen on the end of it that popes up in the tank
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen those, as long as the screen is tall enough it should work

love that 770! I restored one several years ago. Great tractor!

Thanks! This was the first thing I bought after the shut down of 2020. I had to have it! It was pretty rough but I’m happy with it now. It’s so handy with the Power Traction Hitch.

Put a set of the john deere steps 🪜 on that 1955. They look great and are safe.
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen that, I’m sure they’re handy to get on but I personally just don’t like the look of them. I put a set of factory double steps off a 2255 on my 1855 and that works great. It doesn’t stand out like it doesn’t belong and you get the benefit of having multiple steps.

Great video Ross. I'm dealing with the same issue on an 1800 A. I feel if I am patient enough rust problem will eventually get better. Tractor set for 20 years so I should have expected it to happen. Washed out several times and did the vinegar thing but still am fighting it. Thanks for all your videos. Love them !

Put u a stand pipe up off the settlement bowl housing that sticks up in the tank so it will not draw a few off the bottom the more I have had to do list my 1550 a couple of my WDs and a couple of my other tractors
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
I talked about that in one of my videos. I have done that before but I prefer not to if I can help it. I usually just keep cleaning the tank until I get it.

Put a cow stomach magnet in the tank then get out and clean monthy
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea! I’m not sure though if I could retrieve the magnet? They’re usually pretty strong?

Have you tried putting the tank into a rust converter like M51 or Evapo-Rust? Leave it submerged to 24 - 72 hours, drain it, run a bunch of BBs in to polish the insides and then let it dry. I don't know if it'll permanently de-rust the tank, but you'd probably get a couple of seasons out of it.
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
I’ve used Evapo-Rust before but never in a fuel tank. You’re the second person to suggest this so I may have to try that! Haha. I usually use 3/8 nuts to help polish the inside but BBs might be better. Thanks for the tips!

Have you thought of using a bowl with a screen in the tank
@rosstheoliverman2 жыл бұрын
I’m afraid the mesh would probably just plug as well. I know they make a filter that fits in the glass bowl, I’ve been meaning to check that out.

You know,Ross, just perused National and World events. Fuel issues seem rather inviting!

I’m gonna keep on burning those fossil fuels until the day they make the last drop 🤣

Stand pipe ends up leave lots of bad fuel ⛽ in the end. All crap and sludge. May be better to take tank off and put some sand and lot of vinegar. Then shake the hell out it and or rotate some for some time. Or come up with some electrolysis method!
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
I agree 💯. I don’t like the standpipe method but some customers insist on it because it’s the cheapest solution.

ross was there a screen in the tank on the inlet. of the sediment bowl. some that i have seen in them
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
Fords use a screen on them but this style doesn’t. Unfortunately I’ve tried that before too and the screen gets plugged with fine trash as well. The best thing I’ve found is just patience and keep cleaning.

Hi again do you have outdoor wood boiler or furnace that takes coal also like farm tour kind of neat back in 90s at equipment dealership farmer complained about hard starting on ACwd45 yeah rust in tank we cleaned it with secret formula you probably know what it is when I went to grocery delivering it was same as mechanical work not as dirty delivered to warehouse in Seymour receiver was from Bedford JC Grub n Kroger now ran groceries for Aldi's enjoy it you get ready for Christmas
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have a wood/coal furnace in the basement! There are several secrecy formulas I’ve tried haha. Merry Christmas to you!!
@gleanerk3 жыл бұрын
You use non ethanol? Merry Christmas friend! You could try screen wire as a tower . I wanted to do that to my cub but haven’t got that far yet
@rosstheoliverman3 жыл бұрын
I use low ethanol blend. I’ve tried screen as well but it seems like it gets plugged with junk as well.

What is your most successful method for cleaning extremely rusted fuel tank ?
@rosstheoliverman2 жыл бұрын
Patience. Although Chris Losey uses electrolysis and that seemed to work very good. I’m gonna have to try that next time
