M8- love your work! I’ve had my ZG(the Down under ZJ) for nearly 15 years! Picked it up from the side of the road for next to nothing and never looked back. My kids have grown up in it and we would go wherever the Nissans and Toyotas would go, much to the surprise of our fellow Australians, who mostly don’t rate Jeeps at all. (Its a culture thing) Great to see that u rate General Grievance as the best, I obviously agree profusely! I gave the ZG an extra 2 inches and some 31’s (with white writing on the outside and weights on the inside👍)and have gr8 off-road capability and perfect daily driver combination. (A tiny bit of rubbing on full lock) I also use mine as a ute(Aussie pick up) for work and have driven it in almost exactly the same, jam packed, every space used manner as yourself. The roof lining got done a few years back and she’s got monochromatic colour scheme, including the ARB bull bar(which would greatly improve the General’s looks! 👌)updated head and tail lights(sorry, Jeep did really F up with those tail lights). Over the years, alot of things have been replaced(both diffs, transmission, transfer case, drive shafts and all the bushes just got done for the second time!) would love to have the 5.9 trim (and motor!!!!!)but don’t think any made it to Australia so have issues getting it from USA as the left/right drive thing/ buttons on wrong side etc- any suggestions? Have never had to touch the motor after 400,000km(apart from rocker cover gasket) . Have been a subscriber for ages and you are an inspiration to us Aussie ZG lovers who are very far and few between. I love my ZG(a bit too much for most people- lucky my wife gets it and my son can’t wait to get his hands on it(if I don’t get buried in it!) I never want another vehicle and will do whatever it takes to keep the ZG in tip top condition. Thanks again Dan for sharing the ZG love and keeping it real!

Hey Dan, Great videos! I'm just seeing this one for the first time now as we approach the end of 2021. This is a bit late, but having the wrong plate on a vehicle is considered to be defrauding the DMV and it is a felony in many places. Being on long island i cant help to notice your proximity to a couple of drag strips. So in 2021 if wreck j was my vehilcle after all those other ones you have id turn it into the drag j. Find a 2wd xj front crossmember and you can put whatever engine you want. You can go ls and be fast or if you want to keep it chrysler you can find any 318 or 360 to put in there. Smack a torqueflight behind it and just see what you can do. Plenty of 8.8 ford rear ends you can put behind there with little effort to upgrade. Trust me dan it will be fun.

Hey Dan, Loved the walk arounds on the Jeeps. What year is "The General" ZJ, btw. I also think a great video would be the top 20 learned lessons, fixes, tips, tricks for 93-98 ZJ's. Recently you asked, "what content do subscribers WANT you to produce" ? Here is a video that I, myself would appreciate. Make a video on each and every tool needed aka a "Master TOOL Kit" that every ZJ, WJ, XJ should carry in their Jeeps. The video should in my opinion, have every wrench, socket, allen and screwdriver, and torx bit, including stating each size needed, stated and shown clearly. Along with that, all additional specialty tools and diagnostic add-ons that could be housed in a tool box, tool bag, etc. What do you think? What do your other subscribers think about seeing Dan H make a video that shares all the tools he would carry to do most ANY, non-major mechanical, electrical repairs while on the road or the trails? Oh, and Dan H, don't forget to include, "duct tape and bailing wire" in your list, lol
@ProjectDanH3 жыл бұрын
that's a great suggestion Dave! I will definitely make this video happen thanks for the inspiration!
@bombdiggitydave38813 жыл бұрын
Harbor Freight carries a "Mechanics 301 piece Tool Kit" that would be a great start. It comes in a blow molded case and costs $200 (less with a 20 or 25 percent HF coupon) but has almost everything needed for most repairs. Maybe you could review it and then add an extra "Bugout JEEP Box" that has all the small "Extras" like a multimeter, test light, torx bits, crows feet wrenches. And lets not forget, baling wire and duct tape. Btw, if you or others have never worked on a farm, you may not be familar with the 1001 uses for duct tape. And,, as for "hay bailing" wire, both items are revered,.

hi dan congrats on 100k on black beauty. ok ill ask the question here XD. just joined the jeep community bought myself a 1997 jeep GC limited 4.0 after christmas. it has some faults tho. 1 abs light is shining with its yellow lovely shine so need to try to figeure that out before inspection ( in sweden we need to have a working ABS light ) well if that fails ill just connect the abs light to the oil light so it loocks like it works. 2 the brakes are funny, when cold the brakes work fine but sometimes when warm the brakes pulsates like slight abs input/ warped rotors but not all the time. 3 my viscous coupler is bad so ill switch to a 242 in the future. 4 oh yeah ac dont turn on need to check cables and then try filling it with gas or change low pressure sensor. ok over to my questions. if u know anything about the above mentioned problems i would love to hear it. 1st question do u have a tip on how to find a good 242 transfercase? in sweden we have scrappers who sell parts online but u never know fully the condition of the tfc. maby go and get to rip one out of a parts car but i dont know where to find one. we have xj and zj in sweden but i rather not pay 2000 usd for a parts car just for the tfc. 2 i whant in the future lift my jeep with a 3-4 inch liftkit. in sweden i can get rough country for about 950- 1000 usd but i dont know if i should go for that or go for a kit for 1500-2000 usd. i will not go on rock crawling just whant to use the car as an overland vehicle. got any tips on liftkits and what to go for? gah now i realize i have a couple more things that i have to fix i have a slight coolant leak and i think my rear main seal is leaking. should i go direct for rear main seal change or shoult i try adding rear main seal stop leak??. im going to add stop leak to the coolant to se if that solves my problem otherwise ill have to change alot of pipes, great videos. got this car cuz its my dream car. and it had 0 rust. (uncommon here on the west coast in sweden we drench our roads in salt) gonna undercoat the car on the lift next week. och crap just remembered my tfc is most likley the reason but one of the front cv joints is busted so that also has to be done. XD fun fun fun. joined jeep to learn how to fix my own cars and i have a bit of work to do as its my daly driver. oooh i love this car. ups long lifestory this sorry XD love from sweden
@ProjectDanH3 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy sounds like you got a great project Jeep. I think that if you go through the Jeep and perform regular maintenance that most of your problems will disappear. It's a good idea to do the brakes first get new rotors and pads and also check your ABS sensors. You may have a bad sensor giving you the light. I would avoid additives that's best to just find the problem and address it. You May want to reconsider buying a parts car I think it's a great idea. take everything you need off the parts car, Save what you don't need for later, and then sell the body (or scrap it as a last resort). when you're all done sorting these problems you'll have one sweet Jeel and be one heck of a Jeep mechanic! Best of luck buddy
