The key to a harmonic balancer swap is a bumper removal and a step up drill bit!
@15farcry11 ай бұрын
Would it be easier to remove the bumper from the brackets that are bolted to the frame? They are more easy to get to. As always, great video Dan!
@ProjectDanH11 ай бұрын
@@15farcry not really.. I don't like messing with the torx bolts.. for some reason their clip nuts always snap off.. and if you leave those bracket on the Jeep they always cut your shins when you walk by. 🤣

Nice Dan ... and great you added the shroud, but that fan needs replacing ... they should not spin freely/easy, common issue with overheating ... relatively cheap part

Great work!! I just did mine a week ago Monday. Daughter was driving the XJ and said there is a loud ticking. Turned out it was the balancer pulley getting smacked by the fan. I used the OEM Tools harmonic balancer puller kit and removed and reinstalled without removing the bumper. Thinking it was so difficult because the inner core wasn't getting pulled straight and binding on the shaft. Your friend should also consider replacing the timing cover seal. It obviously needs it (puking oil). Love your videos Dan H!!! Always great content!
@ProjectDanH11 ай бұрын
Lol, puking oil indeed! A seal would have been great. I forgot to suggest one. Sorry, I tried to keep it simple

Hey Dan, Do you think a worn balancer will cause the 4.0 to rattle like a diesel when you quickly tap the throttle? Mine is doing that and I noticed the balancer is starting to "walk" off the crank snout.
@brianlook630611 ай бұрын
Also @11:30 in the video, it looks like the front portion of the oil pan gasket is not seated properly. I may be way off but that's how it looks.
