I'm gonna be honest. I wasn't too surprised cause of the prologue chapter honestly. I had it down to that person and someone else. Now what I am annoyed by is I was watching this on my PS5 and after this finished I moved my cursor down to watch a KZbin video of someone I'm subscribed to. Before I even click on it the video next to it was a screen capture of someone playing chapter 1 live and it was on the screen where you put the clues in picture order but the killer wasn't blacked out so I saw who it was. Now I DID EXPECT this person to be the first killer but now I don't have the satisfaction build up. I'm just mad now KZbin even showed it blatantly in a thumbnail.

(Potential spoilers regarding victim. I don’t say who they are though.) In hindsight, yes their talent would have been too powerful to keep. But would have liked to explore their dynamic with Damon a bit more. It definitely would have been obvious (with the many theories) to keep them alive for a long while. Hope Damon remains being in the ‘antagonist’ role in the future just to explore the themes and the idea the two had. I’m just excited for more tbh lololololol.

I have to agree. He has a great showbiz personality which is perfect for a killing game. And yet at the same time, there’s a part of him that doesn’t feel threatening. Of all the fangan versions of Monokuma he’s easily my favourite. I’m just gonna leave my theory for the mastermind here: I think Tozu is the father of whoever the mastermind is and is helping their child construct their killing game as a form of family bonding. It’s likely the two never got to hang out much so Tozu took this opportunity as a chance to impresses his child. I’m just thinking he reminds me a little of certain fathers who don’t know their teenage kids and still think of them as their precious babies. And on that topic, Mara is the older cousin.

SPOILER AHEAD IN THIS COMMENT Narratively, as an author, I think that the first victim is the perfect first victim for two reason. They already had a HUGE shining moment in the prologue so you don't feel cheating about getting to know their character and their stances, but also it takes a HUGE player off the board that the rest of the characters would lean on. Their occupation was actually too strong to live and make a good conflict on each case even with two other characters with similar "discussion levels". It would honestly be like have 3 characters in the Kirigiri archetype and that makes the rest of the characters not as relevant. Think about it, with Daimon, he's a particularly strong discussion character along with Eva. Naegi/Hinata didn't have the background like Daimon. Shuichi did, however, the only person I would say was on his discussion level was Kokichi and that was mostly through cunning. So if you think it about it, it would've been more like having Shuichi level character, a Kirigiri level character, and someone like Bakuya/Kokichi level character all alive in the first class. In short, one of them had to go. XD

The quality here outshines that of the actual series. To say this is impressive doesn't do enough service to you all who made this! The character dynamics are also better handled and more mature than the actual games which can be rather shallow at times but here, all the characters have depth. Absolutely amazing work. I really loved the dynamic between Eva and Damian in Ch1, and without spoiling too much there was more there than at the surface, just like the rest of the game.

My opinion on Eva from prologue to chapter 1: Prologue: omg!! She’s so cool!! I bet she will be the only one like Damon and be like Bayukua for the rest of this! Chapter 1: despite her tough exterior she’s deeply insecure and self-distructive in whatever she does, she hates her talent for how it has led to her never getting noticed for who she is but what she has which led to bullying. Eva is someone who wishes for attention she could never get from people around her. Eva, despite being a bit of a smartass she enjoys more niche interests like gaming, science, and many different literatures

I get to parts of the chapter and then I have to go back to the beginning and just analyze it again. THE MODEL OF THE COURTOOM? THE ANIMATIONS?? THE TRANSITION TO THE 3D APPLE??? I don't think I know the words to describe how good this is. How good it looks. SOUNDS. Hearts go out to the orchestra and everybody who worked on the music in general. "A Shoulder To Lean On" and "Tangled Web" are my favourite pieces featured in the game so far. I can't really tell you what kind of complex emotions the latter evokes in me. The user interface is also really nice in my opinion. It's derived from Danganronpa, but it stands well enough alone on how smooth it feels. Before Chapter 1 I couldn't imagine I'd enjoy Tozu as much as I do now. You've done fantastic voice acting for him, especially his little voice clips (*Plot twiist...!* :D). I liked the writing in this Daily Live in general. The dialogue and the characters feel quite natural. To sum my hymn of praise up: I mainly feel like you've only taken the good stuff out of Danganronpa.

Spike Chunsoft WISHES it had game polish & feel as good as you guys Man, it's just so great how you make game mechanics just naturally flow within the story: - bad guy gets bored in the trial's end = you have to summarize (not just "make a comic bc it's anime") - a nice mix of memorable character names to learn (not just a bunch of japanese multisyllabic names for weebs to repeat) - This great example ( 55:30 ) of pushing the player to talk w/ others (not just skip/sleep off the day) - (spoiler) - Having the "Ultimate ???" role be called "Ultimate Liar" instead (not just keeping it said as "Ultimate ???" ), followed by the reveal

Oh this first case already has such a tight grip on me! The daily life stuff was so engaging but the twist at the end was powerful. There's some suspicious individuals, but I doubt this case would be that easy. This chapter so far has been more than worth the 2 year wait. finally got around to watching part 1! (was NOT expecting 10 hours of content in total! very pleased) - cassidy kicking the door in skyrocketed her to my top 3 - i feel terrible for eva, but that was a neat twist - it’s fun to try and predict which characters will fill popular danganronpa tropes and which ones will carve their own - the soundtrack is remarkable. a lot of this production is truly worthy of being in film & tv. amazing production. trepidation is my fav - never expected that character to be our first victim - this has been so well worth the wait. i’m itching to see what’s next. i hope chapter 2 is december 2025 or january 2026 rather than december 2026 (ultimately ok with waiting but it’s nice to imagine quicker releases) - other than youtube, is there anywhere i can get more connected with the eden’s garden fandom? i’d love to be part of discussions and whatnot

I just posted a long comment about this similar scenario. I saw a live thumbnail of the screen where you put the blackened clues of the crime in order and the killer wasn't blacked out. I knew said person would be chapter 1 killer but I don't have the build to it to enjoy the satisfaction. It is kinds obvious from chapter 1 daily life but I'm mad KZbin does that live thumbnail crap. I have to give a massive compliment to the writing team behind this game!!!! Everything about this is so absolutely perfect, I've only played the daily life (and I think I might've been spoiled for the killer already 😭) but already I think it's plain to see how perfect this game is. The victim, I was certain was going to survive to the last few chapters. You have done an insanely incredible job of subverting narrative expectations. I hope that this means that all characters will get a chance to be in the spotlight, in comparison to the original Danganronpa games that included characters who really weren't so relevant to the plot. Amazing work!!!!! I can't wait for when I can get around to playing deadly life!!!!!!!!!

A thought, has been brewing in my mind ever since the release date had been posted: Will my heart beat outta my chest from hype for what’s to come or anxiety for that exact reason? I’ve come to the simple conclusion that it will be both, I’ve said it before, there is nothing that is truly that definitive Danganronpa experience except for Danganronpa itself. And I’ve been craving, hungering for a true Danganronpa experience once again. And Eden’s Garden is gonna be that 5+ Star dinner, that you have once and never forget, I’m more hype for this one chapter than any time I’ve been for the mainline games. That’s probably with the cast, which I don’t really dislike any of the characters, I like them all, some more than others sure, but I do like them all, and knowing that people are gonna drop, it fills me with dread. For 2 years have I waited for this, and yet now when it’s here, I feel such a great anxiety, like I don’t want to play, not because it’s bad, but because I don’t want to see people from this interesting cast die. There a so many elements this game that make me love it, too much and definitely too much to list in full detail here. This game has always occupied a space of my brain, fading in and out when a new thing about it comes up. But now, it’s consumed me, my brain is been absorbed into a mass that’s only thoughts are about this game, the mystery, the anticipation, the questions, the dread. I’ve though at times, it’s a bit embarrassing how much hype I have for this project, I’m more exited for this dropping than so many things that are more personal, but honestly I don’t really care, this game gives my joy, it gives me something to think about and that’s good enough for me. I won’t be watching this video, I will be playing this myself at some point, so I’ll have to hold off of engaging in stuff for a good bit. I wish best of luck and a good experience to everyone who will be playing/watching this chapter, it’s going down now, there’s no turning back, for 2 years has our thoughts and speculations remained semi dormant only moved with small previews, but now things are really changing, the train is moving, we’re getting somewhere and so is my own though train moving along with it, scared, anxious but also exited to see where the tracks take me. A massive thank you to the Eden’s Garden team, everyone involved is truly brilliant and magnificent creators, forging a fan project that might outshine the originals in my eyes at least, is no mere small feat. The team of artists, musicians, designers and actors are not just that, they are magicians because what they have created is magic. And boy oh boy I’m the little kid watching this group of magicians create magic that would leave Houdini in shock.

Wow there’s so much I could talk about this chapter because holy peak…I was blown away. The prologue was already amazing but things just got better. One thing I wanna yap abt that not a lot of people are talking about are the Tozu Theater segments, because they really made me remember that he’s actually a human compared to most fangans having a Monokuma esque robot as their host. Especially with Tozu’s mask making you forget he isn’t some creature (I remember one of the Dev blogs saying they wanted him to be uncanny valley like, so that definitely works here) Like I was seriously surprised at him saying “when I was little…” “I had a dream I was in physics class…” until I remembered he would’ve experienced those things. Like what do you mean the killing game host went to school like you and me lmao? It’s just another unique aspect Eden’s Garden! I wonder if they’ll reveal anything important abt Tozu that could lead us to piecing together his true intentions and reasoning behind the killing game. Or maybe it’ll all be random yap 😂 at least they’ll be entertaining either way
