It is a common custom to not wash any belt no matter the color. It is my understanding that to wash the belt is symbolic of washing out all the hard work that was done while wearing it. I am sure with modern materials and modern customs washing a belt would not be a big deal at all but some practitioners like myself enjoy sticking to that older tradition. When I look at the older rank belts I have and see the dirt and stains on them it actually makes me remember all the hard work I did.

Dan Green I’m training at a club where yellow belts and even green belts still have no idea how to tie their belts XD The master slaps and humiliates them XD I am like, the youngest, and the quickest at tying my belt at my club XD Looks like they shouldn’t feel ashamed, as there are higher levels who still have no idea on how to tie their belt.

@MARTiALYOU
@MARTiALYOU 6 жыл бұрын
Hopefully you are having a good experience! I find that I judge myself the most harsh, and if you are similar, one of our biggest challenges is to let go of those inhibitions and not fear what others think. It can prevent us from trying new things or keep us from improving ourselves. What I used to do is, no matter how nervous I was, concerned about getting embarrassed or fearful of failing I would try and volunteer to be first demonstrating something, doing a poomse in front of everyone, or sparring. It really helped to just do it. What matters is you become a better you in the process. Next thing you know you'll be competing for medals!

I have a different technique for this but I guess this is also a very correct way. At my studio we cut belts that are White through Red. R/B and Black Belts tie double like this. I’m a First Degree. :)

Thank you 🙏!! Perfect video. Why do 95% of belt tieing videos or guides out there hide steps from the camera, edit them out, or speed past without showing position, and if they do show it all they use a black belt so you can’t see which side is which.
