You can still get projectors with 3d for the fans who have a large library of 3d movies, something the companies that make TV's, forgot. You also don't get reflection of objects on projector screens like you do on glass. Projectors are also still affordable and within the price range of the majority of the public.

Laser projectors are safe for your eyes, but you should never look directly into a bright projector

They all use PWM if that's what you mean. Epson does not.
