34:29 when you squish it. Pull the copper from the top and bottom. The copper on the sides is squished in even tighter by the hydraulic press squishing the motor.

Awesome as always. It’s fun coming along for the journey. At some point it would be interesting to see what is the most profitable copper recovery type. Stripping wire, transformers or motors. A beginning to end process.

That one’s an easy question. Transformers take the least amount of time with the highest percentage of copper recovery. Roughly 20% of the total weight compared to 15-17% on motors. Wire stripping takes a long time to get a large amount of weight.

For me Transformer's by far. Because I buy my scrap they have the highest recovery and I am set up to process tons. But they are going a way for me so I will be gearing up for motors.

When you've got it all dialed in and your only cost of running is a bit of electricity and some labor, this will be a massive profit. I wonder if the extremely hard glue one would release the copper with just a visit to an oven or the electric kiln?

Another notice - bottom steel plate is literally bending when you pull hard. From 22:25 to 24:55. You need to replace it by the thicker one.

Hey, this is so satisfying to watch 😂 but take a look at 20 min into the vid. When you clamp the ring it compresses all the channels. That may be why bigger motors are hard to pull. What if you set the stator behind the clamp as a stop and pull on the windings? Just an observation 😮. Cheers 🍻 Earl

How about some weights before they're cut, and copper extracted weight. If the percentages are similar you'l be able to weigh a motor and figure out how much copper it has. Also the motors that aren't shellacked,after cutting in half lay them out,cut up and spray them down(inside too) with PB Blaster. Then before you go home,spray them again. Once you pull on it and get it to pop,it will help lube it on the way out.✌💰

You may have tried this already but I had a thought about possibly making the copper pull out easier. Do an experiment on a smaller stator. Split it in half and put one half in a standard fridge top freezer overnight and leave the other at room temp. The next day pull the room temperature half and then the the frozen half. My thinking is that maybe the frozen copper may shrink just a little bit and pull out easier. You can compare the pull for each halves. If it helps, you could get a large chest freezer for the large stator halves.

Derek would the scrap yard not sell you prepaired steel prices. Because if they do you can grab some railway track or I beams for cheap. Cut weld and paint everything outside when you have finished you can just swap them out for the heavy duty setup. Awesome video making it and an awesome video installing it. Looking forward to the upgrade options and don't go burning out the auto clutch pulling stator. Not worth the risk brother.

I have seen some chinies vedio demonstrating their product which has some fingers like metal claws and you put the already one side cleaned motor and the claws grabs it and takes all copper out in one shot .....why don't you buy a machine like that ...may be it costly and may not work for bigger motors but works well for small motors like compressor motors.

Wire with any type of glue, resin, or shellac is #2. Same with oil covered wire like the compressor copper. #2 is not the gauge but rather the cleanliness of the wire. #1 is no contamination and 14awg or bigger.
