I love the truck. I had been eyeballing one that was converted to 4X4 on marketplace for over a year, and having had one for my first truck out of High School, I bought it after seeing your videos. $600.00 and towed it home, it had not been licensed since 1991, and sat outside for that time. I got it started after 3 days. My content isn't as good as yours, but I love mine, too!

I quite agree. I've fallen in love with this little truck here, sure wish that Nissan would build these little trucks once again starting with this type of model and keep building them forever more. A little 4 cylinder engine is all ya need especally today when gas prices are going towards 4 dollars a gallon and soon to 5 dollar a gallon prices thanks the to the nation's girlfriend fancy pansy nancy polosi there.

You and I share that use of diesel specific oil in older cars and motorcycles due to the need for that higher zinc content. I also tend to use ethanol free gasoline as well given that some older fuel system parts don't tolerate e10 or e15 very well. The old belts go in the trunk as well if I replaced them before failure so that I have a short term spare if it fails in the middle of nowhere. Comes from growing up in the boonies I suspect. ☺

69 and a half up to the 70s until they had electronic ignition had dual points. Later years electronic distributors would fit, eliminating the dual point distributors, however you would have to time it differently if you ran the electronic ignition distributor

Don't know. Up north whare heavy salt and road chemicals are used, these little girls didn't last to long. The trick to keeping them preserved was to keep the underside washed clean at all times, number one, and number two, to paint the underside of the frame, chassis and floorboards with rust olem black paint. Wouldn't hurt to first take the bed off this little girl and also paint the underside of that bed along with the top of that chassis and check the condition of the fuel tank sending unit, and see to the fact that the fuel line is in good condition. They had mechanical fuel pumps in them and they were located in the engine compartment. When there, good to check out the either timing chain, timing belt along with putting in a new water pump while there, as they are both are in the same area of the engine compartment. And of course, body maintenance is always important, a good can of car wax on this little girl will help keep her outside area preserved to. Now in days, they make paint on bed liner paint that adheres real good to the bed so if you do a little hauling, your bed won't get to beat up. Matainance goes a long, long way on these little girls.

Just PLEASE don't go lowering this little beauty and stickin wagon wheels and thin tires on it, then it'll look punched out.
@ProjectTimeGarage
@ProjectTimeGarage 3 жыл бұрын
While I do like the look of some of the lowered trucks, this one is WAY too original to go messing with. We're going to do a few (and I mean FEW) small modifications mainly for safety. Things like lighting, master cylinder, disc brakes, etc. All bolt on stuff, and I always keep all the original parts. I like time capsules.

@@ProjectTimeGarage That's one thing I can't at all agree with, HATE the looks of these little girls when they are lowered way down to the ground, not practical, then these ugly wagon wheels and thin tires are yet another issue that looks silly and juvenile. Lowering them like that, you end up tearing out the oil pan, what good is that? No matter if it has a air bag suspension or not, it's just plain ridiculous looking, and unpracticial.

@@ProjectTimeGarage really neat! theres one of these for sale near me, same year and model thats how i stumbled on your channel. im debating whether or not to buy it. i watched all your videos on the truck restoration you did a magnificient job with it totally love it. the truck for sale near me has a little more dings in the body than yours though and the seller says it needs an engine rebuild. they are asking $2,500 so im still thinking it over since im not sure how easy parts are to find for it.

I would also suggest having the base timing up a quite a bit they like to run alot more advanced than the recommended timing from New. You will see a decent power boost, also the stock carburetor is junk.
@ProjectTimeGarage
@ProjectTimeGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I'm pulling the intake/exhaust manifolds off this weekend to replace a leaking exhaust gasket. When I do that I'll likely go ahead and give it a couple more degrees of timing. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that a Weber carb is in my near future.
