Born a prodigy, started playing from 2 years old, and 10, 000 hours of practice and study... Great pianist in the making. Has an amazing touch, makes it looks so easy

He SAYS so much through his playing - much, much thought has gone into every single SECOND. This is not a fellow who feels he already gave his best performance last week, or is just marking through the piece - this guy is ENGAGED 100%, right now in THIS moment. What a thril!!!

This might be one of my favorite performances of this concerto. The third movement is often rushed in an effort to show off one's virtuosity. Mr. Shishkin seems to savor the chaotic emotions of this amazing composition.

Technically child's play for this pianist, if you've heard his Chopin and Prokofiev etudes. Musically, because it's such child's, there's no frantic search for notes. They just come! brilliant performance.

Not necessarily. It’s a myth that many hours of practicing will make a better musician (and no amount of practice will make a person a good musician as such. There is a difference between being technically good and being a good musician). There is also such a thing as over-practicing and it can lead to fatigue and injury. A talented child benefits as much from having fun making music as learning technique. It is beneficial to practice with breaks but not necessarily for hours on end. It’s mostly talent and having the right teachers shaping a good method from the start. I think it was Leschetizky who said that a student could get as much from three hours of concentrated practice as from eight hours. A well thought out musical program and well balanced practicing schedule is most beneficial. The more one plays the less one needs or has time to practice technique. It is said Argerich doesn’t bother with it too much.

Gergiev's hand movements are funny. Someone once complained about his not using a baton. After that he came out holding a toothpick.

Yeah, it was gala concert at Tchaikovsky competition. Each laureate had 5-7 mins at most . Still it lasted for 5 hours, cz it's not only piano, but also all the instruments in orchestra and vocalists .

Концерт загадка. То ли детектив , то ли детская сказка. Уж слишком легко внешне как-то всё идёт, хотя понятно, что огромный труд.
