Proliant DL380 Gen9 - basic overview - 2

A quick overview of the DL380 Gen 9, which in my opinion is THE best HP server for homelabbers.
Server layout and some features, although I did notice I did not mention too much about the storage controller on this beast.

Just got one of these free. It has SAS drives in it but I want to put some of my 4TB SATA and SSDs in it. Can this be done without any modifications?

As long as it physically fits, yes. If your raid controller is in raid mode, dont forget to make a virtual volume in SSA. If its in HBA mode, or you have an HBA, dont forget you cannot boot from it and will need a drive thats connected directly to the SATA controller. Good luck!
