There's a point where some music starts to take on a magical quality, this is definitely that kind of music.

Once upon a time, Ireland's forests and hills were wild and rich. Now the only thing still as exuberantly rich is the culture itself, all those places left behind. You can take the Irish out of the jungle, but not the jungle out of the Irish. Gaels even meant "forest people" and it was from Erin's ancient oaks that Britain constructed her "royal" navy. It was the law of the Brehons which preserved those noble oaks and it was the law of the queen which tore them quickly down. Just remember while all those ships and towers are rotting, our seeds live on.

I don't really understand how he plays the first three notes of the main phrase (A down to two Ds) in one bow with a separation between the two Ds. It sounded at first like he was doing a cut, but his left hand fingers seem still at that point.

I wonder if he is simply leaning a bit of weight into the bow for the second of them, to get an emphasis? It would be an unusual way of doing it, stylistically speaking, but I agree that the bow is very much moving in one direction and it doesn’t sound like a cut is being used!
