It’s a movie. People don’t pay to watch the effort that went into it, they pay to be entertained. I mean, how many movies has Hollywood spent hundreds of millions on that were also rubbish…? If they waste all that effort that’s not the fault of the people who had to sit through them bored and disappointed.

As a scientific fiction, yes they are great movies. As a part of the Alien franchise, they are what ruined the Xeno and the Space Jockey's origins and the mystery. An insult to Giger's legacy.

So amazing to see how much work there is in this movie! The only stupid scenes are those with that snake : “ kittykittykitty” is something no one will say to unknown life and also the same figgers who didn’t know in the beginning what they are doing on the space ship. Apart from that what a masterpiece !

I choose to see "Alien" as a standalone film. The entire point of the space jockey was that it was a fossil of an alien race and much larger than even 7 foot tall humans. . Even though Ridley Scott made these films , doesn't mean that they are automatically canon .

@@eden20111 How can "Alien vs. Predator" be "Canon"? Alien was a finely crafted film by a great director with a vision who he entrusted to H.R. Giger. It was Gothic Horror in Outer Space that we saw for the first time. Predator on the other hand, was a Last minute Change on a production that switched directors and was at a completely different level . So because greedy producers have so little respect for the audience that they combine unrelated things, we should accept any bullshit that they present? "Aliens" was a "James Cameron Film". He designed the Alien Queen, created Drones and made them like Ants. You might be a "Pattern Seeker" that needs to put everything together, but I never would do that . Also, the main thing that we all talked about after seeing Alien in 1979, was the fact that we saw a 30 foot alien fossil in some kind of chair. Explaining it by making them 7 foot tall humanoid in a dumb elephant space suit is ridiculous. I'm not buying it.

Fox then wanted MONEY so they hired Cameron and HE created his own individual thing. Everything since then has been others getting hold of an original property to make cash

To all those rivet counters, go away! This was a masterpiece of space drama. All they want is for the original Alien to be the same, and just kill everything. No sense of progression or regression, simply stick to the original....boring!! Who's your specific beef with? Noomi Rapace was stellar. Fifield couldn't have been done with anyone else. Fassbender was superb. The aliens were magnificent.
