Ok this is a musical/comedic combo that I didn't know I needed. They're both incredibly giving and present performers and together they're just inspired. I need to see Jean Smart to sing I'm still here like oxygen

I would have voted for "Promises" as Best Musical in the season of "1776," "Hair," and "Zorba."

Thank you so much, Aurora Spiderwoman, for this wonderful Xmas gift. Jean Smart is beyond terrific. As others have said, she's an amazing national treasure. Jason Alexander is his usual delightful song and dance master. Two greats of the acting world together! Just magical!

@aurora spiderwoman, do you have anything else from this production? It had a great cast - besides Jason and Jean, it starred Alan Thicke as Sheldrake (the Fred MacMurray part), Alan Rachins, Fred Willard, Barney Martin, Paul Kreppel, and my dear friend Linda Hart. It was a fabulous show and I was there!

Yes, the very first show they did. And it was such a success that they brought it back three months later.

Smart's comic timing is unmatched. Unfortunately, Alexander is one of those actors I find extremely annoying, but with her he is somewhat less so.

Promises, Promises was the first film in which a famed Hollywood star (Jayne Mansfield) appeared nude. Her star turn in the film was, of course, heavily hyped in Playboy magazine.

This musical has nothing to do with the Jayne Mansfield film.

@@auroraspiderwoman5886 Thank you. I just googled this and saw that the musical is based on The Apartment, the 1960 winner of the Best Picture Oscar. I should have checked this out before making my comment.
