Mulligan was absolutely brilliant in the movie. It's also the kind of performance that the world goes crazy for when a man does it, for example, Joaquin Phoenix in Joker. Mulligan deserves all the praise she gets, and more.

It was. And I’d love to see her win it. But I think Andra Day will get it. Her portrayal of Billie Holiday was outstanding. Sometimes I wish there could be a tie. Anyhow, I’m guessing since Viola Davis and Frances McDormand are somewhat recent winners (& McD has 2 Oscars), maybe they Academy will give a newcomer a chance.

That movie was so amazing. Her performance was transformative. I wish there were words ENOUGH to express how much I loved this movie and each actors/actresses truly multidimensional facets to their characters. I didn't feel like I was watching a movie...I felt like I was watching someone I know. I didn't feel like they were "acting". That's a big deal with me. It's what makes a movie great versus good.

Have you seen Andra Day in The US vs. Billie Holiday? I think she’ll get it. I wish the Oscars could have a tie because Carey was outstanding and so thought provoking. But Andra Day was also outstanding and Billie’s life and brave decision to keep singing _Strange Fruit_ even though she was being persecuted for it was also thought-provoking. Just the song itself and the imagery of it does me in. Anyhow, Carey in PYW was absolutely phenomenal.

I was around when Thelma & Louise was released. Back then there was no shortage of men expressing alarm about "all the violence against men" in that Oscar nominated film. Taking stock, T&L shot air holes in the rear of a patrol car before making the the officer climb in the trunk -- so he could breathe. They blew up a tank truck in the desert (but not the obnoxious driver). They only killed one guy - the rapist. Yet plenty of guys Rashōmon'd what they saw on the screen.
