At the age of 69, winter of 2019, I lived this. Elevation 8000 ft. 25 miles from anything...a million miles when the snow and wind came for 3 days. Plow the road out...start over the next week.
@dawnadriana17644 жыл бұрын
There is something so elemental about being alone, fending for yourself. Whatever the elevation or particulars, I have found that being self-sufficient is both harrowing and enlightening. Once freed from the child-bearing, man-attracting age, women can discover their true selves in the solitude, and be strengthened by it.

Lived in Alaska most of my life and first wandered here at age seventeen on my own. Over time built my own cabin in the wilderness and am currently far from anyone. Been there done that it ain,t easy and I suggest most never attempt to. Society has made the majority of the population weak and not able to think for themselves or ever attempt to learn the smallest of survival skills. Try spending weeks alone in the middle of nowhere and see how long you last. I later moved to Southeast Asia learning from the locals how to survive happily on little money and few if any material things as before. Sadly currently stranded back in the states because of the virus going on for nearly a year now. At least I was smart enough to head back to Alaska where I feel safest and a place if things get seriously bad I can survive.

I have to admit, I’m not equipped to do what you’ve done, but I have nothing but admiration for your doing it. City boy, born and raised, I’m now a middle-aged suburbanite who envies those who’ve carved a life in nature away from “society” and the very trappings I’m using to respond to your comment. I just finished reading Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Self Reliance” again and am reminded how we’ve turned ourselves into shadows of what “men” should strive to be. The life YOU live forces a man to find his inner strength and remain true to himself. I believe you are one lucky man and I wish you well.
@destinationsroadslesstraveled4 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmccauley648 Thank you so much for your comments. The only advise I can give to others is follow your bliss and don,t be afraid. I learned most from traveling and the thousands of souls I encountered. Like everywhere I have wandered I ended up in Southeast Asia by accident not really by choice but by listening to bliss.
