Within the Master of Arts Therapies Codarts offers two advanced professional training and education programmes at master's level: a dance therapy and a music therapy programme. Both programmes are strongly rooted in the arts as we believe those are essential to become good arts therapists. This belief informs the programme's selection of students, choice of tutors and composition of the curriculum.
Dance therapy and music therapy are very different disciplines, with their own specific theory, skills and methods and with their own types of research and challenges, yet they both address the preverbal and non-verbal nature in human beings. They are both exceptionally well suited to the direct and creative expression of feelings and emotions and can address areas such as cognitive functioning, emotional development, socialisation, communication, self-esteem, coping skills, stress management and quality of life in a wide range of client populations and pathologies, for people of all ages.
