Railway replaced upsc/engineering service with IRMS, but IRMS turned to b a big failure and sufficient number of Grp A officers has not been recruited in the last 4 yrs...So railway has IRMs and again going back to UPSC..Shortage of Grp A officer is so high that, railway is engaging retired officers and extended their tenures

Promotion is good in railway till 4600gp(Grp C). After that ; promotion in grp B officer cadre is lyk oasis.. Total officer in railway is abt 1.5%(grp a + grp b)..which is the lowest among all govt dept. Out of which only .5% is for grp B post..So only 1 out 200 gets a grp B gaztd officer promotion. For ACM; Jcct; Scct; commercial inspector; booking clerk; TT; alp; goods guard..all are eligible.Now jst imagine ; under the jurisdiction of one ACM ; how many of the above mentioned employees are posted ??? Expecting an officer rank promotion is lyk once in a blue moon.. Even ldce exam is very irregular ..1-2 vacancies come in one zone; that too not evry yr.. Most of the railway employees get retired at level 7..

Sirji Abhi Grp B ki haalat bahut hi kharaab hai. Incumbents 12 se 15 saal se ek hi grade mein hai bina promotion ke aur koi tho aise hi retire ho jaate hain. Ye bahut hi depressing situation hai. Bahut de motivation hai. Kyunki work profile grp A aur grp B ka same hai keval Grp B ke promotion me stagnation hai. Direct grp A mein badaoti mein koi rok nahin. Sirf promotee officers ke saath gor anyaay. This is not a rosy picture.
