Exactly! When I had my last son at 34 by c-section I asked for a hysterectomy because I knew I was done and have family history of ovarian and uterine cancers. Despite already having me open for the surgery my doctor refused saying I might change my mind. 5 years later I ended up with ovarian cancer and having to go through that surgery AGAIN for absolutely no reason. It's infuriating seeing them now perform this life altering surgery on children without regard to future regrets.

I’ve seen people blame the school for the shooting (since the shooter was a former student there and had something against the school) because it was a Christian school. This was definitely an underlying hate crime since she hated the school so much. I have been misgendered since I was a child. When I had a short haircut before puberty people always thought I was a boy because I was such a tomboy. As a woman, I have a deep voice, esp. as I get older. I'm also very direct and have a Brooklyn accent, which I guess makes me sound more masculine. So just about every phone call to the bank or utility company or drive-thru window results in me getting "misgendered." I just got called "sir" about 3 times getting coffee last week lol. Fact is, I don't care. I don't even try to correct people. I'm secure in who I am. If someone is so insecure about who they are that the pronouns I use for them bother them, then that's not my problem. Maybe they need to work on why they feel so insecure and need my validation. Most of us use pronouns on autopilot, based on what the person looks like to us. It's not meant to offend in the vast majority of cases; to have to stop and think and remember every person's individual preferred pronouns kind of defeats the purpose of why we use them-- they are supposed to make speech more easy and fluid and not bog it down.

The adult individual who caused this tragedy in Nashville was referred to by the police using a female name and did not look masculine. Personally, it took me a while to figure out whether the person was a M2F trans or a F2M trans because there was so much vitriol flying around. It wasn't until a day or so later that I actually saw or heard the male name associated with this person and by that time, I was sick of hearing how transphobic everyone was for using the "wrong" pronouns.

@@courtneymeyers82 Thanks. I am in Tennessee, so yes in theory I should have rights based on religion and based on my age (older). While I have filed a complaint with the university, what I discovered from a lawyer is that being a state funded uni, it’s written in the charter that they _can not_ pay out to individuals because that would be considered spending taxpayer dollars. This is also reiterated in the state constitution, so basically there is no way I can get the tuition I spent back. The best that I could expect from the complaint that I filed would be being reinstated back in my masters program. This is not workable because 1) Due to divorce money, I had a limited window where I could afford to go to school and still pay my bills (the faculty knew this when they kicked me) 2) There’s no way in hell I’d be willing to go back into a program that ran me out. I had 3 A’s and a Bs, for Christ’s sake. That environment is toxic. I’m super salty and I can’t do anything but complain and pay off the stupid loan. I do want people to know though. It could happen to others, and you end up in debt and career screwed.

If not, get it in writing why they kicked you out and then look into "Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on religion in public primary and secondary schools, as well as public colleges and universities." Marcus you have truly helped me understand what it means for someone to be trans. My heart absolutely broke and bled when I read of the shooting. I am a mother of 2 grown sons and I cannot imagine the absolute agony the parents of the children are feeling and the heartbreak of the families of the adults taken are feeling. That person, the shooter, was described as someone who went by the pronouns he/him after a romantic interest died. They were also described as someone in therapy for emotional problems.
