It's nearly been a year since I did the "Proof that drop D is heavy" video so I figured it was about time to do another one. What better way to do it than with a new guitar!
I got this Ibanez AZ2402 in Prussian Blue secondhand in Tokyo for a really good price. Insanely stoked with it. It sounds unreal and plays even better!
I also picked up the SoldanoX from Neural DSP in their birthday sale and it is pairing super well with this guitar!
Guitar: Ibanez AZ2402
Tones: Neural DSP SoldanoX
Bass: Sandberg Cali w/Neural DSP Parallax

Cheers! I'm glad you dig it! Yeah that section was pretty annoying to get down haha. The down picking is demanding enough but there are some pretty awkward changes throughout that made learning it a real pain.

Great video and awesome playing ! Have a question please, is the guitar easy to switch tunings? From standard to drop D for example, does it stay in tune for gigs or its a pain? Thanks and congrats again
@itsMEADOWS
@itsMEADOWS 2 ай бұрын
Cheers man! No, it has a floating bridge so you can't switch tunings unless you block that off with a tremel-no or something similar. Same as any floating bridge guitar. I just have it set in drop D and it stays there. Stays in tune super well! Really happy with how stable it is for gigs and recording! 🙂

I reckon you should record with a spdif so it doesn't attenuate any heaviness from your signal 🙃🫠 just kidding! Awesome as always man 😎

Imagine this riff in drop g tho. Would objectively be heavier. Just my thoughts. Badass clip either way tho.
@itsMEADOWS
@itsMEADOWS 3 ай бұрын
I actually don't think it would be heavier, I think it would just be heavy in a different way. I actually did a video called "Proof that drop D is heavy" about a year ago and so many people asked for it to be dropped down lower so I then did it in F# as well to compare. The riff got lower and was heavy in that sense, but it lost so much of what made it cool and heavy in drop D in the first place, because it was written to be played higher and have more note definition amidst all the chaos. Someone put it as not being heavier necessarily, but that it became "more thunderous", which I agree with. I do think the middle Meshuggah-type section would just straight up be heavier though, that would sound sick lower. Either way, it's fun discussing this stuff! Thanks man!
