In Germany all trams and buses have a built in ramp on every exit and the driver is the one to open them up for wheelchair users. We also have mobile lifts for high train exits at the most train stations, you just have to call in advance for special 'mobility helpers' to come to your platform and help you out with those lifts. It's pretty nice ❤️

I live in England and know the disabled have access and a really helped if they can not get on and of thre train. Also, our bus stops have raised sidewalks for the busses that kneel to allow access. I know NY they have kneeling busses. The reason I replied originally we don't use handicapped anymore. We used to, but the powers that be says it is demeaning to the disabled person.

Well whether it is Kindness, volunteering or doing it as a job we need more Assistance for our Disabled. And Im also talking about GOVERNMENT HELP! This matter needs more work & planning especially in some States in USA that are so far behind. In Finland, our tramps/metro have buttons where you press and a ramp slide out, making it easy for anyone in a wheelcair or a parent with a child in the pram. Also, there's a special coach to accommodate those on wheelchairs or with baby prams/ walkers and bicycles.

We have had this in the UK For the past 20 years. Also our buses lower their suspension to all easy access for older people. Plus the buses are all fitted with a fold up ramp for wheelchair access 😉

This happens in Spain too, you just need to inform any worker when purchasing your ticket and they will arrange any assistance if needed. Most trains however are perfectly level with the station's ground and need no assistance. Some old stations need big ramps though.

We have these in Australia too. I personally use them, all I have to do is tell the station person & they inform the station that I will be getting off. When I arrive, a staff member is there waiting for me to roll out! Wonderful!

We have this in Singapore too. But it’s for buses, coz our train platforms are wheelchair friendly. For the buses, there are hydraulic ramps attached and the bus driver comes out to help with this 😊

In my country accessibility for disabled people exists many cases only on paper. e.g. there is an elevator on the train station, but it is not working, or you have to organize in advance to have a personal coming with a key to operate it. If they have to ask the help of another person, than there is no accessibility. Most of disabled people want to be able to travel autonomously, just like those not disabled.

While on a business trip to Japan, I just boarded a bullet train and before I could even find a seat, an elderly lady tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to a gold bracelet on the floor. Somehow, the bracelet which was a gift from my Mom came loose and fell from my hand. Naturally, I bowed to her and thanked her. Yes, Japan is a beautiful country with very honest people.

In the US we have an automatic ramp that extends for the handicap individual. They just have to activate it as the train, trolly or subway comes to their stop. More efficient than having a person do it.

It's best if that automatic ramp deploys in seconds and closes in seconds. If the auto tamp needs more than 10 seconds for set & close, it's useless in Japan. Trains usually stop for less than 20 seconds and it cannot keep the train schedule.

In Turkey, we have platforms near the doors for disabled people. Whenever a door opens and the disabled person wants to get off, someone opens the platform and helps the disabled one. It always makes people feel warm.
