I think his unique physical profile still makes him ideal for a RCB position long term. His recovery pace and ability to use his long legs to claw the ball off the leg of the opponent is very rare to find and him playing wider will also enable him to evolve his ball playing abilities

Wonderful little analysis mate. Sounds like a man who knows a thing or two about defending. Yoro seems level headed, composed on the ball and that two footedness is a breath of fresh air. It's always exciting when the eye tests meet the hype. We've got a gem

The error you talked about was not entirely his fault Mazraoui has to raise a hand as he saw the overlapping player to signal yoro to cover that width... Good performance but I wonder if he can switch the ball effectively to dalot, one of the amazing traits of Maguire I hope he picks
@neozapolar5102Күн бұрын
The initial error was him getting too close to Mazraoui which then led to the error of not following Maddison’s run I agree on the big switch of play to Dalot, he had plenty of opportunities to switch it but he didn’t…but he’s capable of it

He’s like the better version of Aaron wan bisaka. Solid defensively with long legs which fits a tackling defender. Also his pace fits perfectly in a high line defence.

Thank you for making the good quality video and analysis, I have a different perspective but I do think that he’s at fault for 2 goals, the Kulusevski’s and the corner. If you look at Kulusevski’s goal first, Mazaroui and Yoro were marking Son and Maddison, he looked lost at that moment and was not ready to cover the overlap, he was stood still and wasn’t in a position to start chasing or like you pointed out to use his pace to make recoveries, he was late to start the sprint and that’s why Maddison had time to cross it, which of course Licha was at fault, but if he anticipated that overlap run he could have at least blocked the cross if not got the ball fully. For the corner goal, again of course it’s Bayindir’s fault and there’s some sort of foul there (soft I think), but Yoro was actually man marking that kid and gave up last minute when the ball was crossed in, gave him space to ‘push’ Bayindir’s arm and caused the goal. He has potential but definitely still young so will need more time and patience.

Mazraoui is the traditional Ajax product footballer who is good any where and Has proved thus over the years.. Bayern at times played him in Central defence or defensive midfielder nd in DM no one gets past him but u have ugarte..he can play 10 and has an assist at 10 wen Ten Hag once put him there..nyway all his career he has only not played at goal keeper and striker..the rest he has even box to box midfielder who dribbles and carries ball at pace.

I thought he had a brilliant game. You have done a great job of analysis, as usual, but I do disagree on your evaluation of his "error." I played pro across three decades and have coached for 55 years at various levels (youth , college, and pro). I would fault Mazaroui for that incident as he should have picked up the run. But communication is the key there, and Yoro could have helped with that (assuming he didn't).

I might sound controversial for some. But if we really want to control the game. Do we need Yoro when we have Mazaraoui who can cover that space as RCB? Amad playing very good as RWB, in fact it gives him more space to come from behind and exploit more space... Yoro showing some very promisining attributes, but let's not forget he's only 19yo... And we don't want to rely on a such a young player, nor overhype it. If we realistically want to see him as a starter, his passing compared to Martinez is... not as good let's say (cause he's still got room to improve) Yoro got the physicality but not the passing and football IQ of Martinez. We know if he have a fully fit Martinez & Mazraoui, Yoro is nowhere near to start. So let's just enjoy his progress, and not overhype him. Wish him all the best, he's a great talent. But i think we got an already finished product in that area for this seaonson, who is obviously Mazaroui..
@thebiglebrowski3695Күн бұрын
Pre-watch comment: I thought his defensive positioning and awareness was awful. He created their 2nd goal by completely leaving the runner to double on Son, who was already completely marked by Mazraoui. He had a nice tackle on Son later in the game but that was pretty much it. As a defender myself you aren't judged on what you do right as a defender but what you do wrong. You can't make such a big error in the build up to a goal and have a good game. He is young and could develop, but from what I saw, he is 2 or 3 years away from being at the level for United, at least.

Haven't seen your other video yet but in my opinion Tottenham's goals came from mistakes from the keeper twice and Martinez twice. I believe Yoro is a world class player in the making and that we haven't seen the best from him yet. But what we've seen so far is already amazing sometimes. If I was Amorim I would start Yoro in every match as the right sided defender. Maybe even sometimes as the left defender if Martinez needs a rest. Everybody is hyping up Maguire at the moment because he had a couple of good games but I would much rather have Amorim playing Yoro because he's surely the future. Soon Maguire will cost us an embarrasing goal again handed his ass to him as he was twice against Forest as a sub but because nothing happened nobody noticed. I'm quite sure Yoro will be my favorite defender when this season is over even if we already have a great best defense this season (but still making too many silly mistakes). Unfortunately the opponents are also becoming better and better. In my opinion we haven't seen a more competetive Premiere League as we've seen so far.
