I think the main factor which is causing the Proof razor to have a draggy feeling on your skin is it's finish which is a mate metallic finish whereas the Leaf has a chrome/glossy finish which helps with the sliding movement on the skin when in contact with soap.

That is a good point. Cheers

Several users reported similar issues regarding the Rockwell 6s and 6c (mate finish despite stainless steel vs. chrome/glossy finish - zinc alloy).

Super Vergleichsrasur! Ich könnte mich wohl auch nicht für einen 'Sieger' entscheiden, denn beide gehören zu meinen absoluten Lieblings-Rasierern 👍 Liebe Grüße nach Nevada Jörg

Great vid Heiko. All of those products Re top shelf. I never wash off the tube or PAA block, or Stirling preshave soap. I just lather on top once I've rubbed the preshave in. The Razor Emporium preshave block also works well. The Proof works well, as does the Thorn/Twig. Both companies have great service support. When I first used the Proof, I was contemplating polishing the Proof's topcap, but given the Proof shave was without irritation, I left it as was. Speick do well, as does Thayers. Cheers, John

your and my observation with those products and razors seem to match. Good thing you didn't polish the Proof. You would probably take off the anodization. I just looked at the Speick Soap in an plastic container, that stuff is a bit more expensive. Also the aftershave is pretty pricey. Thanks for your comment.

@Heiko-shaves Correct Heiko, I was going to polish back to bare metal for the topcap only. Would not touch the leading edges in case the geometry changes. The end polish would be to a mirror finish. I did this for the entire Robin Snap2 (bare aluminum all over) and it worked very well. Mirror shine. Now need to maintain it, as aluminium does dull from a mirror finish in time. Have used the Speick electric prehave and Speick aftershave balm. Both very soothing, and they last. Have a great day. Cheers

The Proof razor is also good for head shaving.

The Proof branded 1/2 DE blades cost $.20 each and are USA mfg. Presumably these are Personna blades.

Thanks, that is interesting.

Great review. I've been eyeing the Proof as a possible companion for my Leaf shave as a head shaver. I also got the Leaf Thorn just recently, and find that it's okay for the head, but not as good as its big sister. I think this review shows me that the Proof wouldn't be a Leaf challenger. I really do enjoy the Thorn for face shaves though. It's effortless and nicely designed.

The Proof is light and more nimble and better for shaving around the ears. It does drag a little but then so does the Leaf. But they’re both good for head shaving.
@petekadenz2466Ай бұрын
Re the drag effect, I find the Henson razor also drags somewhat. I agree that the drag effect is probably caused by the flat surface against the skin.

Looks like the grip of the PROOF is not as good as regular other razors? It looks plain and slippery?!
@Heiko-shavesАй бұрын
With the square profile it is pretty grippy. For me personally it isn't a challenger for the Leaf razors either.

Do you mean noticeable? Yes, I was in my 30s when I moved to the US. For the last 15 years I have been trying to lose my accent, I guess I just suck at speaking english. Thanks for pointing that out.

@@Heiko-shavesYour accent is great - no need to lose it unless you want to. It’s certainly better than American accents.

I have very coarse beard growth and can typically get only 2 decent shaves from each blade, but at only 8 cents it’s still very cheap.
