Duuude it looks so much better than the original one, that's crazy how much a paint job can add to a piece! Really cool stuff
@stupidmovies859 жыл бұрын
It looks amazing don't get me wrong, but I just want to point out to everyone that is angry that this Pipboy looks 'too new', it is supposed to be that way. In the game, your character finds a pristine Pipboy that was issued from VaultTech to a vault doctor. Its basically been lying in the floor, in an air tight chamber for 200 years. That being said, other than a little rust it is basically pristine.

Not usually one to necro a 3 year old post, but I have to comment. I'm not complaining about the Pip Boy looking "too new". But as you said, the player finds a Pip Boy that was issued new to a doctor and it has been laying on a floor for 200 years in an air tight vault. True. However... a corpse decomposed while wearing that thing. It would be extremely dirty and rusty, the padding on the inside would be gone, and it probably wouldn't work.

This is really stellar, Bill! I was really happy to see you'd shot a video for it to share your process with everyone, since the photo you'd posted earlier looked so great. If I'd picked up the collector's edition for Fallout, you bet I'd be following these steps to try to make mine just as Wasteland-y, but even so, this was really fun to watch and has plenty of great techniques that are applicable to many other projects. Well done, and thanks for sharing!

This is beautiful Bill Doran! I'm signed up for Amazon to tell me when more FO4:CE's are ready, and have been for over a month...so sad. I fear that email shall never come. I wouldn't have thought the powdered graphic would stay on too well. I guess once you seal it, it will. There are a number of paint additives for acrylics to extend their work time, if you wanted something less toxic than oil paints. Most Universities don't allow oil paints any more due to toxicity. Its far from the most toxic materials you are using though. I hope this means you are going to be building some Power Armor soon!

Dig the rust man! There IS actually a faster way (albeit likely more noxious) to do it as well! I take Matisse ferrous Iron powder, apply a thin layer of burnt or raw Sienna to the area I want to rust and sprinkle the Matisse over that. Once the acrylic is dry, I take a mixture of sea salt, white vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide, put it into a spray bottle and shake the bottle until the salt dissolves. After I spray it lightly, I come back 20 minutes later and VOILA, rusty goodness! I'm sure Sculpt Nuveau (likely screwed up that spelling) works AMAZINGLY! I'm just an impatient man and thought I'd share. Love the vid man!

Excellent work Bill. Really amazing paint/rust job. I do prefer your choice of stainless steel screws, over the game's (brown) painted screws. Can you please do a short followup video, after you clearcoat it? I'd be interested to see how the paints and the rub-n-buff turn out with clearcoat on them. (The rub-n-buff especially.
