Chlorine will dissipate if water is left out for a day or two, however, chloramine will never dissipate and does more damage to plants. Easy solution is to use water conditioner (used in fish aquariums), which does remove both chlorine and chloramine and the other chemicals in water that are harmful to fish 🐟 and plants 🪴
@Ghaasper5 ай бұрын
Not all water conditioners will get rid of chloramine 😢 good to check if it says ‘detoxifies ammonia’ then it will. Even then it’s only for 24 hours and for that time it’s just ammonium instead of ammonia. In fish tanks the bacteria will turn it into nitrite then nitrate. In a glass it won’t. Although if you have a fish tank you could just use the water! 💦
@tomdoyle60302 ай бұрын
Or better yet you just have it growing straight out of your fish tanks like me lol
@PantsAreScaryАй бұрын
@Ghaasper a fish hobbist here- it's better to get quick start live bacteria that will eat the ammonia. Unless your fish has severe ammonia burn the ammonia "detoxification" only masks the ammonia and doesn't actually remove anything. You have to remove the ammonia through water changes. The ammonia detox is good to use to mask it so that it doesn't burn your fish anymore so that you can save him from dying and remove the ammonia fron the tank but it isnt a full on fix for the ammonia. that's just what I've been told I could be wrong, also i am very new to plants so I don't know how this information transfers over (Edit I just realized that what you said is 100% correct, I read you wrong the first time)
@tomdoyle6030Ай бұрын
@@mepeet4062 I don't how long it takes fully tbh but all fish keepers that I know ( I don't have the space so I use declorinater ) usually leave the water for around 8 days with a air stone going so it isn't stagnant. Personally for me the plants that are not already growing out the top of my tanks I just use the water from water changes to water the plants , free nutrition

@@fistofthenorthstar9010 about 90% of them made it. The 10% only died because the cutting was too close to the node, however, to precisely answer what you may be after, the technique explained in the video did work for me and it does increase the chance of survival.

My pink princess got horribly sunburned when I moved to a place with a lot more light - not just bleached-out pink, I mean brown and wilty. I chopped her way down. I don't actually want more pink princesses, but I decided to see what happens if I try to propagate the pieces, and if any are successful, I'll give them away. I didn't have any wax that wasn't from a heavily fragranced candle and I wasn't sure if that would be a problem, so I let them sit for several days till the cut ends seemed pretty dry and tough. I just put them in the windowsill. Fingers crossed.

A node is where the petiole joins the stem and aerial roots grow from the node. An axillary bud is where the new growth comes from, when you were saying nodes i think you ment aerial roots. Usually when you have a 1 leaf cutting you have 1 node, 1 axillary bud and aerial roots. Great video otherwise 😊
@TheJungleHaven2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this Monica - your comment got me doing some digging! I know the node is the point where the petiole meets the stem, but I've always been taught that the surrounding bumps are also nodes and you're right, I think I'm totally wrong about this! I know I say here that for me aerial roots have rarely produced a root system in these plants, but after doing some research, turns out in fact they have! Thank you 💚

It's a good idea to leave it sitting overnight so the end can heal over and then clean that end with some alcohol or some hydrogen peroxide before you seal it so that you don't seal in harmful bacteria that will cause it to rot under the wax. @kaleylynn65656 ай бұрын
@@Notmetoob There are lots of different types of wax out there that aren't scented. Tea lights for example, used with the warmer to melt the scented wax but aren't scented themselves. Would wax from a tea light work or is there a special or certain wax that is used for this process, such as beeswax? That's what I want to know. Also, I believe there are candles that are scented without chemicals, more natural, but don't quote me on that.

If you can see the leaves are definitely on their way out I'd probably say chop them - that way your plant can focus it's energy on the healthy growth instead of wasting energy trying to save a bit that's dying. Leaves getting stuck and not being able to unfurl is often caused by either lack of humidity or a watering imbalance, so maybe crank up the moisture in your terrarium?
