I am looking to add an auxiliary air tank to my compressor to be able to remove lug nuts and seat tires, both are hard to do with my old 10 gal.compressor. I almost ordered a 5 gal. aux. tank 'till I found your video. Looks like it will work using your method adding a regulator and quick connects. Probably could also be used as a emergency air tank on it's own. Thanx.

salvage a compressor from an old fridge or freezer or AC window unit & pipe it to it. try to use a compressor salvaged from a 110volt appliance . a 220volt setup will be very inconvienant

I bought a fitting to go from the tank to the coupler but when it arrived I realized the other end was also left hand thread as well and my coupler wouldn't connect. any thoughts or places I could go to get/buy the proper fitting?

That little side screw is a bleeder for refilling. If they didn’t bleed you did get a full tank

Looks good. Using existing valve makes sense. Aside from the smell residue; if empty does the smell matter? once water is in won't tank rust faster? Tested/max psi ? dolley rolling cart?

James Campbell The smell does not matter, it just smells. Water in tank is not a big deal because if compressed air is left in tank it condensates and produces water, Max psi: don't know, but way over 125psi, No dolley needed it only weighs 8lbs.

doublewide6 understood on compressed - condensed. Still I wonder if rinse with mineral oil might both remove smell (though I'm willing to ignore) and protect [somewhat] the interior of the tank. I grab these old style or NEW whenever someone throws them out. The can't actually legally throw them away be metal collector guys go after them. I've got a couple of empty old styles sitting in the back of garage waiting to do the same. Have you done any videos with Sistering tanks to increase cfm?

A propane tank will easily handle a working pressure in the neighborhood of 240 p.s.i. That's more than plenty for most homeowners and small businesses.

Only thing is to put a adjustable pressure regulator on the tank because different air tools require different pressure and without a way to adjust the pressure you can damage your air tools.

in our old paint shop, the painters were all supplied In-line air pressure limiters , with a rotory knob some with a guage, to use for fine tuning the cup gun sprayers , when applying lacquer , sanding sealer, NGR toner , ect. . these were light weight & inexpensive , maybe they could work for random use of low or high CFM pneumatic tools.

Would this tank hold enough air to inflate an RV tire (90psi)?

A 20 lb tank won't from a completely flat tire. Not even a 100 lb tank can. You might be able to get it to about 15 psi at best. The volume of the RV tire is considerably larger than the propane tank. It could be used to "top off" the air pressure. The internal volume of a 20 lb tank is about 1360 cu inches. An RV tire might be about 2500 cu inches (of course depending upon size). Using Boyle's law, you'll probably need about 18,000 cu inches @ 100 psi (again, depending upon tire size).

it can inflate a 22.5" tire to 80psi if the tank is pressured to 150 psi. I'm building a reserve air tank from an air suspension tank, witch are smaller but hold 300psi. (propane tanks are only 3/16" thick)

Zachary Adkins scuba tanks run at 3000psi. Don’t risk it with old propane tanks. The walls are too thin and the tank will be too buoyant

Suggest cleaning, inspecting, and coating the welds around the upper valve protection frame. I found rust on several of my older bottles. This is a potential site for crack initiation.

Ha Nailer even when someone c the propane tank, I would rather blow air threw it for the smell. because there is no drain valve on the tank 4 water. I seen u flipped it upside. cool That o ring looks shot. ? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM Ha Funny ! I'm even laughin. I didn't know those indents on the valve meant it was a lefty. I knew it was though.
