I was thinking about something like the real ME109E's had, later in the war the Germans started adding an auto-cannon mounted under the nose machine-guns with the barrel passing over top the engine and going thru the center-hub of the prop. There was a large gearbox to allow the engine to be lowered and for the gun-barrel.
