Been practicing U-turns in a too small parking lot... Hit a curb, bent my shift lever. Same day, fixed my shift lever. Same day, found a bigger parking lot. Thanks for your efforts Jerry. Even though I live in New Jersey I still try to get out riding most days. Only way to stay proficient is to stay in the saddle. Enjoy Daytona !

I bought your materials (I think it was a 5 DVD and book deal) back in Nov 2019. I always carry a bag of split tennis balls and practice something (20 or 30 minutes) just about every time I go for a ride. That practicing really paid off this last weekend. Two-up with the better half and got caught on a back-country road going somewhere I didn't want to go. Road was about 3/4 as wide as the one you're doing the U-Turns on in this video. Without stopping, without putting a foot down, going about 7 to 10 MPH, did the little swerve to the left, turned the head and eyes, a little brake, a little throttle, a little clutch, and the U-Turn was done! A little fist-pump and a whoop in comms and we were going in the direction we wanted to go!

Missed seeing you at Destination Daytona. My buddy and I were there on Friday. How much is "a little pressure" on the rear brake? I seem to be able to Slow Race pretty well just feathering the clutch without using any rear brake. I guess I'm doing it wrong though. And I need to practice holding my RPM's in the 1500-2000 range - the throttle on my 2018 Yamaha Eluder is a "Throttle by Wire" and there's a bit of a dead spot in it where trying to "blip" the throttle doesn't seem to work as well on it. Peace and love.

I just got this same exact bike and have been having issues with the friction zone. My first Harley so I'm not used to it. Any way you can adjust the friction zone to where it isn't all the way at the end of the clutch on the low rider s? Used to be able to do u-turns just fine on bikes that have early clutch engagements. This bike is a bit more difficult for me.

Quick question. So I bought your ride like a pro and have been practicing. I've got the slow race down but am having trouble with turns. I'm in the friction zone, throttle is where it needs to be but for some reason I'm loosing power in the turn. It's like what I'm doing in the slow race doesn't carry over to the turn. I thought maybe when I'm turning, my grip on the throttle might be coming too tight and am disengaging the clutch. But I've made sure to keep it steady. It's like the turn requires power than the straight slow race. I've made sure I keep consistent brake pressure throughout as well. Am I just not "deep" enough into the friction zone? Not that it matters but here's what I'm riding 2003 Yamaha v star 650 classic.

Hi ya Jerry, Hope you're well. I'll bet you may have gotten this question before but some people I know are starting in with the electric bikes. Have you test rode the live wire and if so, what suggestions would you have for people that are getting into the electric bike market? Since there is no clutch or friction zone on electric, how would you suggest people that are interested in them to practice these techniques? Personally I'll never own one but I'm sure there will be some that may come to your class with electric bikes

My father in law is pretty upset with me that I purchased this bike with zero experience other than a Zuma 125. I decided on the Africa Twin because I’m a big guy and it felt comfortable, however with that comfort I was not expecting the power it had. Long story short, I did what some would call whiskey Throttled into a parked car that had a rack of bikes on the back. I got pretty hurt lots of stitches and a destroyed sense of pride. Very embarrassing. The bike is reparable. The family wants me to sell the bike and get something smaller like a 500cc, but now that I’ve felt the power of a 1100cc I don’t think I’ll like anything smaller. I’m 6’1 300lbs my father in law that’s been riding for 40 years says it was Irresponsible for the dealership to recommend that bike for me especially coming from a scooter. He believes I’m playing with fire. That I don’t have the skills associated for that bike. I’ve put 800miles on the bike, I felt pretty comfortable until that moment. Am I moron? Should i downgrade?
