With both my first two babies I was told to cup the breast with my hand an shove baby on I also got cracked nipples and mastitis with both babies and with my second ended up in hospital on iv antibiotics due to 6 wks of mastitis I had to quit breastfeeding. Now that I'm 27 wks pregnant with my third I've been rethinking breast feeding in particular baby self latching. You mentioned baby latching themselves do you think baby's get a deep enough latch without any help? I mean it is a natural and instinctive process for them. I have been thinking about allowing this next baby to self latch from the start with minimal guidance only.

@@shinebrightandbethelight Hi mama! Thank you for sharing your story and I'm sorry you had to experience breastfeeding difficulties with your previous children. Know that every breastfeeding experience is different. Birth interventions and the type of birth you have affects breastfeeding; resulting in baby needing more assistance to latch effectively. Find your breastfeeding support now while pregnant. It makes a huge difference. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Be well.

@@PrenatalYini thank you. Both my two births were natural without pain meds an without any assistance I think it was more of a forced breastfeeding technique that caused my breastfeeding issues. Hopefully I can avoid issues this time. Thank you so much for your videos I've seen many and they are so helpful.

@@shinebrightandbethelight Fetal position in utero and how long labor was can create body tension in baby and therefore affect how baby breastfeeds after birth. Find an experienced lactation consultant to support you before and after birthing your baby. All the best! :)

Would you say fast labour could be an added problem for breast feeding? My first was 7hrs an second was 5hrs. Maybe fast labour is stressful for babies.

I'm so glad I watched your video. I have been having a tough time breastfeeding because of the pain in my back. But I have been trying the "football hold" (lol) instead. I'm going to try this position instead for sure.

I hope your back feels better soon. Football hold is another great breastfeeding position. Do what feels good. All the best! :)
