My baby was born at 35 weeks and could not latch so the hospital gave me a couple kinds of nipple shields. He still really struggled so i ended up giving up after a couple of weeks and just bottle feeding him. I have still been practicing with him at night when its very quiet and calm at my house and it has helped but my nipples are in so much pain from his shallow latch and from the constant pumping 😭. I wanted to go back to trying the nipple shields now that he is a little bigger and getting a better idea of latching but i discovered mouse droppings in the drawer where i had stashed the shields from the hospital. I ordered this medella kind so i can try them again when they arrive tomorrow.

Very happy to come across this video, my baby is low birth weight , he is 13 days old . Each time I try to breast feed him , he doesn’t take it . I definitely gonna try the shield , hoping he will latch . Is it a common problem with babies with low birth weight ?

I'm doing this just after my 1 month old finished nursing and nothing is coming out. Is that normal if babe isn't latched? If i squeeze closer to the nipple, a ton comes out. He just nursed for 50 minutes on one side and it didn't empty me. He did fall asleep though. Is he just using me as a pacifier?😅

Thank you for the video. I do not have a microwave. So most likely will use boiling water method to sterilize the parts. So do I boil the water, let it cool off for a few mins and then immerse the parts or place them into the boiling water, if yes - for how long?

My first baby is 3 month old now but i had a lot of stress since birth and i was breastfeeding but along with bottle milk about twice a day at first 2 month but since one month he refuse to breastfeed and since then i was using the pump 4 times a day but my supply is to low about 1.5 oz i am trying to increase the number up to 8 but i need to know is it too late or i can increase my breast milk or should i continue trying.

How many times to pump to reduce over milk supply

While nursing with a shield the milk seems to leak out all over us. Is the shield too big or stretched out? I am using the size the lactation consultants suggested. Suggestions?

I have been nursing exclusively my baby is 8 months and her teeth are coming shes on babyfood and nursing. I was told to start because the baby apparently uses different muscles for bottles than breast is that true.

Thank you so much for this video! I gave birth 6 weeks ago, my baby is struggling with the latch and I was not too good at pumping. I started working on it a couple weeks ago. In my morning pump I get 2oz max from both breasts . I am not sure if it is because I still need to work on my supply or could that be my storage capacity? I don’t want to believe it 😭 I am pumping 1 oz per hour during the day, and I feel that number doesn’t go up no matter how hard I try.

I work with a nurse who was able to express colostrum but once her milk came in she absolutely could not have a letdown and tried all of the recommended interventions. She tried for three weeks with terrible terrible and engorgement and was not able to get the milk out and she finally gave up. Have you heard of this? She does not have a thyroid issue or diabetes. She has not been formally diagnosed with PCOS but did note some cysts on her ovaries during an ultrasound. She is pregnant again and would really love to breast-feed this time around.
