Proper outcome of a metal flake paint job

We receive a lot of questions regarding our flake matches. The proper way to spray it; the reason why to purchase a basecoat matching the flake; and if the metal flake comes inside the paint. We decided to make this video in order to share with you all some valid information about our products.

Cosmic Black is a candy basecoat. You would just need to spray over black.

I really like the look. I have a Chrysler purple base coat that I’d like to use and not go to waste. Would it look bad if I used one of the purple flakes over it? Or is it crucial that everything matches?

flakes do not necessarily need to match the base coat, sometimes flakes and paint compliment each other and just look good even though they do not match.

Quick question I’m looking at the sunburnt base coat with matching flake. So the way I would shoot that is step one grey primer, then base coat 3 coats, then matching flake mixed in intercoat 3-4 coats, then clear

Depends on how big an area you are tryin to paint. If you can find an .08 needle it would spray better. I could never find an.08 so i bought a regular spray gun at harbor freight its a 1.2 or 1.3 gun it was like 30 bux.

looks like the flake really pops on the black base more then any other color/shade of base. I have a old Manco 3 wheeler I want to paint with a purple heavy/big metal flake look. Basically like it looks on your example with a black base. Problem is the body is made out of ABS plastic. I know the look i want can be done with many layers but from what you say, i can get the same effect with your stuff and less layers, that sound about right? and what needs to be added or done so the paint lasts on a semi flexible material like abs? any specific flex additive? do all coats get the flex additive as well?

Those Metal Flakes are semi transparent so you can spray them over any color and they will blend well

I hit um up about the seductive cherry, they dont have flakes that match perfectly like the ones in this video for the seductive and luscious paints, so youd have to paint a spray out with the purple then find the closest flake to it if you wanna match it, it really depends on the look your going for, when you get up close youll see little specks of the onyx contrasting with the purple but do a spray out and if you like it go for it
