Great job Daniel . I have done this myself and it doesn't harm the coin at all or cause problems when you have them graded it just gets the coin back to it's original look and surface . This method is what you pay the grading Companies for when you get them to do coin restoration - Conservation . If you know what you are doing you can do the same thing your self instead of paying to have it done .

As a card collector and coin collector and note collector its interesting to see what is classed as uncirculated. Many cards pulled from packs are not mint. Notes have to be ridgy didge to be uncirculated. Coins can have severve bag marks, be cleaned and pass as uncirculated. A bit of rubbing can class them as damaged, which sort of means all circulated coins are damaged really. As a card/note collector, those coins arent mint. As a coin collector they are. Have to remember this at times

depends on the coin, costs a % of the END result price. So whatever the coin is worth after its cleaned its like 306% of that price but theres a set min price also if the coin isnt worth much, and yes cleaning certain coins makes them worth more PROFESSIONALLY cleaned coins that is

I think the title of this vid can be taken two ways. I took it the way I see others did. I thought it meant something to the affect of, "How I restore Peace Dollars with before and after shots." Personally I like to try acetone (polar solvent) first and it cannot react with the metal. After that, if no success, I move to Xylene (non-polar solvent), and finally the ones you mentiuon if the previous ones do not work. And sometimes I use minute amounts of said chemicals on Q-tips instead of subjecting the whole coin surface to the chemical.

Thank you for responding . I’ve been looking at the coins on pcgs and comparing them on their website I believe I have a few looking like MS67 or MS67+ without toning or any restoration. The quarter was kept in a Tupperware in between a wall of a house that we were doing plumbing on. After finding it we went to the homeowner, showed him what we found, then bless 3 of us who was working in his house with all of the quarters. We all have about $100 in Washington quarters that from 1964 and bellow. I also believe I have a 1960 deep cameo proof quarter. I really could use all the help you can give me and will even send you pictures of them if possible. Thank you again I really appreciate it

Daniel, I really wish you had stuck with the term "conserving" and not used "cleaning" or "restoring" Cleaning and restoring kind of triggers "renewing" or "rejuvenating" mentally. "Conserving" would be more like stopping bad issues the coin has like PVC contamination or poor environmental toning that leads to more severe damage and kind of triggers the brain into thinking about it as "preserving for the future". When graders use the term "cleaning" they are referring to scrubbing or sanding or rubbing with a caustic or abrasive which is an absolute no-no. 100% agree that conserving coins with environmental/poor storage issues is the right thing to do. Still though some toning is a good thing and making every coin "blast white" is the wrong move. A coin that's 100 years old should look like it's 100 years old, it shouldn't look like it was minted yesterday and automatically triggers my "cleaned" radar. The level you conserved the coins in this video at I feel is completely acceptable and actually makes a "issues" coin presentable and preserved without making it a "problem" coin.
@CoinHELPu5 жыл бұрын
It's all the same. I am not playing with words and definitions or worrying about what it makes people think. An original coin is a coin that looks like it just came from the mint. As soon as it begins to react with the environment it's in then it is no longer original. It is now post mint original maybe but it's all oxidation with is non-mint chemical reaction to the coin's surface. I appreciate you comment but this is no different than cleaning grease off your hands to me, it is still cleaning. To me conserving is putting something on the coin to keep it from the chemical reactions inherent with coin alloys. Good comment and gives me more ideas for a video. Thanks!
