$23.50 for gold, $13 for silver. These are not meant to be "mouse traps" just a novelty present/keychain and the price reflects that. I pretended they were mouse traps for the vid, but they do work for that purpose very well ;)
That tiny trap would be great for catching 'The Borrowers.'

I'm actually pretty sure that they're considered novelty traps. I don't think the manufacturer ever seriously thought anyone would actually catch anything with one! You've inspired me to buy one and try it out next time I have a mouse.

I was not aware they made traps this small that functioned. I'm gonna have to pick up a couple. run a 3 foot trap line in the barn!
@XTHEPREDATORX12 жыл бұрын
HOLY CRAP! I didnt think it would actually work. And to everyone that thinks this is so damn cruel, this is actually an extremely humane way of catching a mouse. It doesnt kill them like a snap trap or poison. Like a glue trap, they can be released from this, but with glue, they will rip fur and skin off in their struggle, very sad. This trap just freaks them out, but allows you to catch them and release them with minimal damage (may cause bruising, but should be fine).
@sparkyjones5607 жыл бұрын
FYI people there are laws governing foothold traps in some states. the laws don't differentiate between mouse size dog size or bear size, hence the need to coat the catch in something rubberized. it's more so the trap catch doesn't get rusty and sit out like a landmine to blood poison a hiker.

I love how you have to pad the jaws on foothold traps for use on mice but those old ones with a wooden base are ok with no padding and they snap right onto the mouse's neck and hurt or even kill the mouse whereas the other one just holds it until you let it free. By the way great video.
@jcotteri9 жыл бұрын
I have found glue traps to be the best, you can catch a whole family as they get drawn by the noise they make and they get stuck as well. None the less this is an effective trap!

Just a little note here for you - roll /rotate both of those springs 90 degrees and toward the side which has the dog - the flat 'triggering bar' that works in conjunction with the pan and that holds the jaw(s) down) after the trap is set - and this will allow the other jaw to lay much flatter - at least as flat as the jaw being held down under the dog. The instant explanation here surely lacks in good, easy to follow info, and thus will just as surely confuse the hell out of most readers, so I apologize for that now. That said and to further clarify a bit, rolling both long springs properly (at right angles to the jaws and toward the side holding the dog) will result in the set trap not being laid out straight as shown here, but instead will generally configure it into a "u" shape with the opening of the "u" open and facing toward the dog side of the trap. I wish I could add a simple image to this, as it would make it VERY easy to both explain and understand!
@PennsyltuckyTrapper8 жыл бұрын
+Vernon Phillips Well said :)
@Thelothuo8 жыл бұрын
+Pennsyltucky Trapper Made sense to me. Turning the springs shifts the slight angle of the springs' top hole to allow the far jaw to be lower. Depends more on how exactly the spring sits, though. Some springs may be angled down toward the jaw hinges, while some may be angled up or not at all.

As a youth I ran a trapline, Imoved away from the leg hold to the conabear body crush trap. I don't like to see any animal suffer anymore than is totally necessary. I Hunt mostly bpw range with firearms making headshots safe and reliable, no prolonged wait for the animal to expire. The mosquito trap you used is great but not practical in an outdoor setting, I lost bigger traps when birds of prey found my victims stuggling to escape. Body crushers no struggle no attracting unwanted diners. Can't begin to grasp the terror that a leghold device inflicts, not to mention pain. to be tied in place and offered up as dinner without the ability to escape or to fight. No dead is better.

I'm trying to look at this from both sides, but I'm inclined to agree with Edward1131. A mouse with a broken leg will die if released, so you can't do that. And if you kill it, there would be no point in using these as appose to a two dollar snap trap that breaks a mouse's neck. But release is the only reason I can think of to use a live trap, so I'm confused as to why you did this. Were you just wondering if these traps would work? I hope you put the poor thing out of its misery after..
