The story of Elisha and the bears is found in 2 Kings 2:23-25. It tells of the prophet Elisha traveling to Bethel when a group of young boys came out and mocked him, saying "Go up, baldhead!" Elisha responded by cursing them in the name of the Lord. Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods and mauled 42 of the boys.
This unusual and disturbing story raises many questions. Why did Elisha curse the boys for mocking him? Why did God send bears to attack children? What does this say about God's sense of justice? This video explores various interpretations of this challenging passage. Some see it as a lesson in showing proper respect for God's prophets. Others read it as an example of God's wrath in defense of his servant. And some see it as a violent overreaction that highlights the problem of evil.
Join me as we dive into this perplexing passage and wrestle with its meaning. The story of Elisha and the bears provides an opportunity to reflect on how we read and apply Old Testament narratives. Understanding the original context and ancient values is key. But these accounts remain difficult for modern readers. How should people of faith respond to such stories today? This video presentation draws on biblical scholarship and theological insights to grapple with this important question.

We receive Jesus (Ya'sous, Jesus) for being the sacrifice for our sins. We receive baptism for the journey onward to a new and holy life. We receive the Holy Spirit to break our will to yield to the flesh and sets US free from it, TO ALSO ASCEND TO OUR REBIRTH (BORN AGAIN) IN GLORY to the Father (St. John 3:5-21 ). When things are more set up, this will be discussed. This should be your fervent goal to achieve and necessary to achieve !

A few yrs back I shaved my head because it was going bald and as I entered church a young boy started mocking me and pointing an laughing at me as I entered the church, I said nothing. Later that day wen I got home my mom told me about a boy that came crying to her because he fell and cut his knee open, found out it was the same boy, and straight away this scripture came to my mind.

I wouldn't say that the bible is confusing, in the old testament the people of God were taught quite differently to us : eye to eye but with the blood of Jesus we r taught to give the other cheeck but it doesn't mean God will not fight for u, it just mean u have to hold your peace and Jesus will fight and defend u. I have people who lie, make false accusations against me at work I don't do what they do, I give them to Jesus to deal with the spirits behind them. I don't bless them but I don't make them my enemies either, I pray and ask God to destroy any spirit which is asking them to mess my career.

even theologians don’t know all of scripture and they know that just because someone has never heard a story or parable doesn’t mean that they’re lacking something it’s honestly fooling to make such a claim how often do you truthfully read scripture and how often did she you think God holds you higher than her because you have read more scripture than her ? pretty foolish again i would get your priorities straight. the lord teaches us id we speak in tongues but have no love we’re nothing but noisy gongs and if we prophecy but have no love we’re useless. our love for our brothers and sisters in christ is the most important thing we should focus on instead of bashing someone because they’ve never heard a bible story. but again you’re arrogance speaks of your age and your love

Their God was a fallen angel. That fallen angel like most had stolen powers and posed as the creator. That fallen one wanted to prove he was God so bad . stop calling him God. Jesus never said Yahweh was God and said in fact he was the synagogue of Satan. Read it and weep.
@geef0813
@geef0813 10 ай бұрын
@@Davidsavage8008 you should read it and rejoice. Because Jesus certainly does claim godhood. In John 8:58, Jesus claims that “before Abraham was born, I am!” Jesus makes seven other “I am” statements that testify to his divinity: “I am,” said Jesus, “the bread of life,” “the light of the world,” “the gate,” “the good shepherd,” “the resurrection and the life,” “the way and the truth and the life,” and “the true vine” (John 6:48; 8:12; 10:9,11; 11:25; 14:6; 15:1). Jesus’ audience would have immediately recognized the significance of his “I am” statements - he clearly intended to express his divinity. By referring to himself as “I am,” Jesus claimed to share the same name and nature as God, which is powerful evidence that reinforces his divine character.

@DiscipleDave I never mentioned anything regarding punishment. I view punishment as synonymous with karma. However, as a follower of karma, I strongly disapprove of a deity imposing eternal punishment on any of its creations. Such vengefulness seems morally wrong to me. Therefore, I believe you've praised a lesser god. Ultimately, we originated from this deity, and in the culmination of time, we will reunite with it as a unified entity, though not simultaneously, of course. Again you are praying to A VENGEFUL GOD.

In 1993, I started to read the Bible. I started at the first page, until 18 months later; the final page. In that time, The Almighty conveyed to me, that I was embedded; before my mother’s womb, in a place within those scripts. I found my chosen connection was with Elisha. I must say, it is no surprise, because fear has found itself seeking to hide from my purpose. Participation in The Holy Script is no game. My purpose has remained firm, despite the efforts of the multitude. 💜

Hats off to the Video production team. Its beautiful. I believe that this story is poetic too, The young boys calling Elisha names is a representation of the perception of every carnal MIND__ This story shows that before Elisha(A MAN) got[gets] anointed, He identifie(s) himself strongly with his flaws(baldness/weakness) The young boys also represents that other peoples opinion shape our perception of ourselves, However after the(an) encounter with the limitless MIND of GOD, Man CURSES/DISAGREES/BINDS the carnal knowledge of himself which has kept him trapped to the Physical WORLD. In summary: Elisha (The NEW creature in CHRIST) curses/rejects the OLD MAN(flesh) & BEARS(new hunger for the spiritual) devours young Men ( simplicity of the heart/ignorance of our spiritual heritage) This story is the story of every MAN in CHRIST__ and the destruction of his OLD identity. Amen

Sorry, but I don't think he (and you) understand the holiness and the wrath of God. I totally disagree with his fourth point, based on very much evidence contrary in the Bible. I stopped listening there. An example: all those rebelling with Korah, Dathan and Abiram. " As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open; and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who belonged to Korah with their possessions. So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol; and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly. All Israel who were around them fled at their outcry, for they said, “The earth may swallow us up!” Fire also came forth from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering the incense." Numbers 16: 31-35. Even in the New Testament in Acts 5 we read of a couple, name Ananias and Sapphira, who instantly die, when they try to live a lie. The reason? "You have not lied to men but to God." Acts 5: 4. The stronger the presence of the Holy Spirit, the stronger God's fierce anger against those, who treat Him with such disrespect. We do see, that Jesus, God in the flesh, prayed to his Father to forgive people, for they didn't know what they were doing. Those, who do know, are in mortal danger, the closer they come to God!

Don't forget what they did in the Inquisition they burned Bibles and killed Christians just like me God sees things as a whole not just what they are today and there's a lot of red flags even today not just in the past. I know it's off topic sorry I just had to say something. There's going to be a false Church the Bible says and it will be judged at the end the church is a representation of a faith-based religion in Christ so there will be a false believing church so beware. Only one fits the shoes with their purgatory and works for salvation doctrines all by design to keep you in Chains never feeling free living a life walking on eggshells never experience his unconditional love. if a Believer knew he was loved unconditionally saved marked no matter what the encouragement and happiness alone would give that person a better walk and fight and it's all buy design by The Great Deceiver he will give people half truth and half lies just to be thrown off

The Lord is slow to anger BUT if we keep rebelling, then his anger kicks on. Being "slow" does not imply "no anger". There comes a point where he does get angry. I've been studying through the Exodus event. The Lord DID carry out the consequence of the Death Penalty on 1000s of people who refused to repent. There comes a point where the creator says "No more!". He knows the mind of all people. Sobering.

God's grace was displayed in the First Testament as well. Why else do you think the Israelites were rescued from a life of slavery, protected fro the last few plagues, and elevated as God's chosen ppl, even though they clearly didn't deserve it? Grace is not just a New Covenant concept!
@geef0813
@geef0813 10 ай бұрын
So I assume “before Gods grace” means before Jesus. However, God is the same Hod he has always been. The New Testament clearly has examples of this in the Book of Acts. Ananias and his wife Sapphira were New Testament believers. After selling some land, they decided to give the church part of the proceeds but tell everyone that they were donating the entire amount of the sale. The apostle Peter, however, saw through their mutually agreed ruse. After confronting each one separately regarding their lie and selfish attitudes, they are executed through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:1 - 10). The angel of the Lord is sent to kill Herod Agrippa, a man who murdered the apostle James and tried to kill Peter, for elevating himself like a god (Acts 12:23). All these, and no doubt countless others we are not aware of, were personally executed by God for their sins! Don’t believe preachers that tell you “god is ONLY Love”…..he is still the wrathful God of the Old Testament. The New Testament may have had a different objective, it doesn’t mean God changed somehow.

That's what I've been trying to solve last weeks because I feel there's a symbolic connection with Daniel's Last Week (42 boys = 42 months / 1260 days / 3+1/2 years = 1st half of last 7 years, when the *Two* Witnesses will cast plagues and signs against the Beast and killing many of its followers, Rv 11). Elijah & Elisha are a prefigure of the Two Witnesses already. However I didn't find a strong biblical link between "bears" and "something from prophets/from the Lord" or smth yet. Maybe Hosea 13:8? EDIT: In Rv 11:4, the Two Witnesses *devours* their enemies by the *words from their mouth* (fire).

No matter how fast anyone tries to run away, an angry mother bear can run a lot faster. I'm positive that God specifically sent those bears knowing the youths' first reaction would be to run away. The implication in the fact that female bears were sent is that these youths were probably hassling their cubs before they encountered Elisha.

It was not about rejecting God's message - there is ample evidence in the Bible to show God does not destroy people because of rejection. Much rather, God usually responds to actions. The tragedy was because they transgressed God's laws and rejected traditional values and rules. Your heart belongs to you, but the land belongs to the Lord. Respect was an important aspect of the laws handed down to Israel from God. Mocking Elisha was an act of disrespect for God and elderly - it is obvious that this has been the frequent practice for these group, which is what got them mauled. The spirit searches and knows all things, which may not be obvious to the casual observer.
@gardenjoy5223
@gardenjoy5223 10 ай бұрын
There's also ample evidence in the Bible, that God does destroy people, because of their rebellion. Read Numbers 16, 1 Kings 18 and Acts 5. The more majestically the Holy Spirit shows Himself in this world, the more dangerous it becomes for people to stand up against Him!

I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." 2 Esdras 2:31 ,,,''''''

I don't agree that the 42 children were over the age of ten. Infact,I think they were just as the Bible says (children). Why? Because the message that God may have wanted to send by letting two female bears rip those children to pieces, could of been away of telling the parents that they should do a better job of bringing their children up following God's commandments. Because children always reflect what they've been thought.

It’s interesting that nobody ever brings up the fact that this huge mob was a dangerous mock mob. Also, as was stated, biblically, there are children, young men, and fathers, the father phase doesn’t start until forty, so this mob was between 13-40. Since children level up in Judaism at 13, I’ll take that as the child phase. These weren’t 8 year olds teasing Elisha innocently. Scary that each bear took out twenty one of them each. Also, the mock “go up” was a mock against God bringing up Elijah to heaven.

With this video you are allowing the Russel Crowe (Gladiator) voice-over to speak out of both sides of your face. Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit to be upon him,,,, and it was given because he witnessed Elijah taken up by a whirlwind to Heaven. If Elisha's skeleton in the tomb brought a dead man back to life? that should speak volumes. They mocked the true Man of God (with double portion of Elijah's spirit) on the entire Planet and that was the result. You play with fire? You will get burnt,

Matthew 7:1 basically says whatever scale we use to judge others, is the scale Father God will use to judge us. We must stay in our own lanes. We must also be sure to have the speck out of our own eye, before worrying about another’s. I am a sinner in desperate need of of my savior Lord Jesus Christ. 🙏🏼

Yep when they came to the land the Lord said spare none! Cain's bloodline. They didn't play back then, do or die!

@ApostleBerlin-lk5xp Is not a good excuse . Well, are Christians allowed to kill the modern idolatry people? where's the word "love your enemies?"

@saitoren4061 I'm telling you AI doesn't have good intentions. It refuses to recognize Jesus the anointed one (that's what Christ means). It twists and never passes an opportunity to blaspheme ✝️. Very akin to Satan's twisting of The Word of GOD. It is disturbing 😳

@saitoren4061 I would be curious as to what makes you think that because I have been involved with chat gpt since shortly after the release of chat gpt2 so a technical explanation is fine so no need to translate it to common speak. I am referring to the precompiled versions packaged for release by the way. There is nothing in its code I am aware of that would relay answers to requests in a fashion to pander to a religion or set of beliefs . Chat gpt was telling jokes about Jesus on the cross but not a word out of line about Muslims or even atheists. I can assure you it's ability to inferr information about a person conversation like your last reply to my comment. Just to be clear I am not a expert nor have I been contributing to the chatgpt engine. I do not speak with authority

@@traviskeller7706 What I mean is, chat gpt has morals as good (or evil) as the one who makes it. It does not have the ability to be more moral than its programmer.
